For example, what Americans typically see as "center-left" Europeans see as "center-right". Europeans tend to be more leftist than Americans, so they see the political spectrum slightly differently. If there was a Marxist country (assuming it didn't collapse in the first week of course), I'm sure they'd probably see themselves as fairly moderate. From their viewpoint, they wouldn't be far left, but rather the rest of the world far right.
