Animals are animals, a dog is no different than a cow or horse.
If you don't complain about eating cow and horse meat, why are you guys complaining about dog meat?
It's just that dogs have evolved alongside human beings to understand us more than any other animal. I find eating dogs and cats very wrong, but others may think it's fine. It's all a matter of opinion and most people that live in places that don't do this will agree with me, but in countries where it has been going on for centuries they would disagree.
Dogs are easily trained and have abilities that can improve human life; they have great understanding of human emotions and needs.
So let's eat them?
I don't get facepunch sometimes.
If this was a thread on eating dolphins people would be flipping out or something.

not all but a sin, a straight up sin

delicious sin :v:
I don't see anything wrong with eating dogs that are livestock, It's kinda dumb to compare eating an animal raised as food to eating an animal raised as a pet.
so long as the dogs are slaughtered humanely and the people selling/raising the dogs have strict regulations they have to adhere to (like with western slaughterhouses/farms although i feel that their regulations aren't as humane or strict as they should be) then i see no problem with this. the problem is alot of that kind of regulation isn't in place in china, and as the protesters have pointed out there is shitloads of animal abuse involved so i'm on their side
-snip-
I think it's fucked up to eat dogs, since they bond to humans very well, even to the point of reading emotions and genuinely caring for their caretakers. I know it's probably different for dogs that are bred for food, but i really don't like the idea of someone eating a dog, i already tear up at the sight of a dead dog that was hit by a car.
This statement holds true for basically any culture, but you don't see us having black slaves anymore do you?
If black people were edible we probably would be eating them right now.

Cows care for their owners too, doesn't stop us from cutting up their butts and cooking them.

I wouldn't consider disease inducing toxin filled meat edible.

Best unusual meat I ate was boar. It's got a really strong taste.

taste is fine but the texture is awful and anyone who likes sea urchin is mad
What's wrong with eating a dog? We do it to other animals all the time.
They eat cats too in China, and if I remember correctly, both dogs and cats get really brutally slaughtered, skinned alive or beaten to death and whatnot.
In my opinion its sickening, and i dont like the idea at all(mostly because how they are killed)

I don't think they treat anything else better than that.

they're killed just as humanely as anything else. what you've heard is probably some peta propaganda

It highly depends on who prepares the food. It's still rather common to have rabbits get skinned alive. They hang them by the hindpaws, give their skin a small cut and just rip the whole skin apart from this point down to the head. The rabbit only dies once the skin has been totally removed.
I don't really like the idea of eating an animal with social ties to humans and has more uses than to just eat.
You mean cows which produce nutritious milk and are used to cultivate land, are a source of power (for mills for example) in many places in the world where electricity is not readily available and are a great source of fertiliser?
Or chickens which produce eggs, which are again nutritious, provide free and natural pest control and again provide natural fertiliser?
Or horses, which might be considered to have even a stronger social relationship with humans (especially before the invention of the car), provide manure and power?
Let's just eat pig and fish, which I'm sure have tons of other uses as well, but I just couldn't think of right now.

Unless torture is involved they can't possibly be treated worse any than the modern factory farm in the west.
