People said the same about Myspace.
But then Myspace royally fucked up.
Same could happen to Facebook or any other site.
Mathematically, you make a bigger profit if you have 50% of the market, so there is room for both facebook and google.
Facebook for social networking
Yahoo for news
Bing for shitting on
Google for searching
that's the way it SHOULD be..

I think you guys are forgetting something....Google is way more than G+.
Google used to have Buzz and all that other stuff. Just because some element of Google isn't successful doesn't mean other elements are bound to fail too...
Google has its hands in everything. It does loads of research, and you can clearly see that.
Where on Earth (quite literally, where?) would you be without Google Earth? So many people depend on it nowdays, it cannot die unless something much better comes out...unlikely due to the aforementioned research
And how about Andriod? They even make phones (Nexus) for their own mobile OS
How could you forget Youtube? Everyone knows Youtube - and while it may not always be the best for some particular videos, they've got a huge user base
Google has successfully integrated with the lives of pretty much everyone in first world countries. It isn't going anywhere soon.
As for G+? We'll see!
What.
You can make group on facebook with all your classmates inside... figure the rest out
I know what I'm going to use when Google dies.

This makes me wonder- people use google as a verb nowadays. If Google ever does fade away, are we going to end up with people that say 'Oh, I googled it' whilst having no idea where the word actually comes from?

I'm sure at some point a new word will replace it, but there's bound to be a period where people say google without knowing the background of it.
Microsoft is increasingly willing to call out Google for what it sees as illicit behavior. A year ago, the software company released a long list of gripes about Google's monopolistic actions, and last month it said Google was violating Internet Explorer users' privacy.
