hello its totalbiscuit and today we will figure out wtf is mickey mouse's clubhouse 2: the rampage of pluto as you can tell by the graphics menu here there is no fov slider, only mickey mouse buttons
As far as I know he gave up the "Fred" thing and last that I remember he was playing in that obnoxious ass "Marvin Marvin" show.
nah that ended early last year.
Disney's next animated movie just got announced
Yup, Disney now owns Maker so also owns Polaris. No idea what this means for us, but I'll make the content I want to make or go elsewhere.
So in other words if Disney tries to pull anything he'll go S.P.H.I.N.X (S.P.H.I.N.X!) on their OSI. And yes, I'm making comparisons between Polaris personalities and The Venture Bros.
Disney's next animated movie just got announced
They better get Jon to do musical numbers. A Disney Musical, with Jon.
Probably not much chance of it happening, but a new 2D animated Disney movie with animation done by EgoRaptor and Ninja Sex Party writing the obligatory musical numbers would be the shit.
If it's anything like starbomb, I fucking hope not.
Let's hope Polaris doesn't go the same way Lucasarts went [sp]It will[/sp] Let's hope they don't force the Polaris people to exaggerate their personalities and tone down their language [sp]They will[/sp] Let's hope they don't clean out the not-as-popular people and force the popular people to act like complete assholes/sluts [sp]They will[/sp] Let's just hope Disney doesn't touch Polaris[sp]They will.[/sp]
Remember when Marvel was bought by Disney Remember when literally nothing changed
I'm more interested legality wise on copyright issues. I wonder that having Disney overseeing Maker allows them to circumvent a lot of copyright issues due to having a big brother, or even if content creators can now use Disney owned properties.

I don't like how Disney's buying up everything.
I don't like how Disney's buying up everything.
Or google? Or Amazon? Welcome to Free Enterprise. Well, people have always claimed the Chinese businesses hold too much power.
I don't like how Disney's buying up everything.
I've only seen two companies change in any way after Disney bought them, which was Lucasarts being shut down, which they had coming. And Marvel starting to make great movies left and right. I don't mind Disney buying things up.
it kinda bothers me that Disney owns everything
it kinda bothers me that Disney owns some stuff
ftfy
why did I know Mio Akiyama would give me the rating he did
why did I know Mio Akiyama would give me the rating he did
Why do you care about a rating?
Wow congrats to my close friend who got absorbed. I hope this has a good future for them.
I guess its best to just follow Totalbiscuit for what will happen to them, he is the kind of guy who just steps up and goes away once Disney starts to interfere with his work.
Totalbiscuit being employed by Disney sounds pretty hilarious. I know it's unlikely that he'll allow them to weasel Disney shit into his content, but just the idea of him casting some starcraft 2 tournament in a suit while wearing Mickey Mouse ears cracks me up.

The overreaction in this thread. Disney is very probably just buying Maker Studios to have some grasp on the youtube scene, in case it proves to be a good market for them. It also possibly allows them to handle copyright issues better. Best outcome possible, Disney pours money into Maker Studios and prevents all abusive copyright claims on Maker Studios videos because no one will want to fuck around with disney. Worst outcome possible, Disney starts dictating around what should or shouldn't be done to the youtube channels, starts being a nuisance and everyone just leaves to go in some other group.

Maker wants that $500 million (possibly 950) and Disney knows that in a few years Maker is going to be much bigger than they are now, and are snapping them up now for what will be considered a bargain in a bit.
Maybe Disney'll make pewdiepie shut his fucking mouth for longer than 5 seconds.
I wasn't even aware that there was a company overlooking all these YouTube personalities.
Im pretty sure gaming channels basically have to be under someone like Polaris or Machinima to get by copyright laws or something. If you're a 100% original channel making skits or whatever you can get by alone with adsense money or whatever but that wouldn't work with gaming channels I'm sure theres plenty of other reasons people sign to stuff like this though, theres plenty of original/non-gaming channels signed to Maker [editline]25th March 2014[/editline]
Totalbiscuit's response:
Aren't lots of people signed to Polaris because Machinima is fucking horrible to them? Like where else would they go

Between the popularity most of these channels share, the sway they have combined and possibly some pooled finances, I don't think it'd be hard to form a new group if everyone left.

You don't have to sign to a network, but when the contracts are as enticing as Polaris' are there's no real reason not to.
;44349932']Aren't lots of people signed to Polaris because Machinima is fucking horrible to them? Like where else would they go
Like I said, TB'll probably help spearhead an independent network. We've seen offshoots like this before with game development, which is a damn tricky thing to do in itself, so starting up a new video network should at least be "on the level" in terms of startup difficulty, right? ALSO, here's another statement by TB in Soundcloud format.
Maybe Disney'll make pewdiepie shut his fucking mouth for longer than 5 seconds.
No one is going to make Pewdiepie shut his mouth because his annoying voice and stupid jokes are why he gets so many views in the first place. He makes hundreds of thousands of dollars by acting like an idiot, and the only reason he does so is because middle schoolers like it so much. Outside of his videos he's a pretty nice and normal guy, but he's stuck in this character he's made of himself because of the ridiculous amounts of money he makes from it.
;44349932'] Aren't lots of people signed to Polaris because Machinima is fucking horrible to them? Like where else would they go
No where? As of the changes in 2013, Networks are no longer required to be partnered as a game channel. For a long time it was only possible realistically through a network. Now a network offers very little over a standard...Monetize partnership.
Maybe DieDieDie won't be so keen on screaming "RAPE" every other word so stupid children will laugh now.
Except for the bit where a) Maker/Polaris/Disney isn't going to change in the slightest - networks have no right so control what content is being uploaded. That's YouTube's and Googles territory. b) Felix has upped his game and stopped doing shit like that. I really don't like when people shit on the man by making huge exaggerations. [editline]26th March 2014[/editline]
It means PewDiePie and Markiplier will get even more money for faking screams in a video with minimal editing and effort put into them.
No they won't. Disney might be in control of what ads are being displayed on the videos, but Polaris/Maker probably already have the best advertisements possible given how big they are. They won't earn more or less from this. Also, no need for unnecessary slander. You'd be surprised how much editing goes into shit like this.
