I have heard jews saying that the other jewish person was a self hating Jew because he's worked against Israel. There's a huge difference between self hating jew and not being jewish at all. Maybe the ones that you're talking about are Orthodox referring to Reform + conservative converts but honestly they would have considered the Reforms and Conservatives not jewish even if they agreed on everything.

Saying someone's 'not a real Jew' in this context doesn't mean they're not actually a Jew. It's akin to a PC gamer looking at someone who plays on console and saying they're not a real gamer

It's not a matter of semantics. Even through they might have major disagreements, Jews will still recognize Jews as members of the same religion and ethnic group.

People have also said that Israeli Jews aren't real Jews. In the Jewish community it's a pretty common statement

Jewish on both sides, but not religiously so. But I was called not a real Jew because I said something anti Netanyahu. I've heard multiple people say that about Israeli Jews because they say Israelis don't represent the same sense of humility that other Jews do. I don't know if you hang out in Jewish circles, but it's not an insane concept for someone to say someone isn't 'really' Jewish.
