I just went for a run for the first time in forever. I feel happy.
I only get runners high by not running and smoking weed instead :v:
It's a pain when you're doing it, but you tend to get this weird feeling of satisfaction after a good run.
I don't. I don't exactly feel like I'm dying or anything, but I never got any satisfaction from exercise whether I'm in shape or not. Cycling is alright but I've already checked out all the paths near me and to go to a new place I'd have to ride through 20 kilometers of terrain I've already seen a hundred times.
I few weeks ago, I started up an exercise routine where I go for a walk about about 30 minutes. On average, I cover about 2.4 miles in 22 minutes. I always feel great after a good walk, and I actually lost some weight while doing this. That said, I have forgotten to go walking for a couple of weeks. I need to go for a walk again.
I spend about three hours a day walking around with my dogs, I've got that covered. Hasn't really done anything to my general condition though.
Being outside is the best thing ever, much better than sitting inside on a computer/game console all day. There's a feeling of satisfication and pleasure you get from being outside that you just can't get being inside. Especially summer, being outside on a warm summer night is amazing
Summer fucking sucks dude, it's impossible to stay cool, there's insects everywhere and my dogs almost die of a heat stroke every day. Winter is awesome, it's much easier to regulate your temperature since you can just put on more clothes. You can't really take off all your clothes in summer and even then that doesn't really help. Oh, and I can go dog sledding in winter.
I run for 5 miles every morning and go to the gym every other day. Every week I hang out with friends on Wednesday and Friday and I go to the movie about twice per month with my girlfriend. And I still hate a lot of people. So I'm a bit skeptical of this study.
Wow good thing I don't value happiness.
I love being outside, but I generally don't like people. Nothing to do with specific behavior or anything like that. Just -people-. Mostly large groups of them. Hanging out with friends is okay, but other people I don't know... Evening/early morning walks are awesome because there's nobody else there to distract or annoy me. I can hear myself think, and it's just... awesome. Going in a loud city with lots of people is just a pain, because I have to watch where I walk, I need to be respectful towards others. Not to mention I suffer anxiety when I'm in large crowds. Being indoors is great because I can do whatever I want without society hanging over my shoulders.

I would go outside more, but there is nothing to do, I used to play paintball then my town banned paintball guns. I got caught playing it in the middle of a forest with some friends, the god damn cops thought we were going to shoot up houses with the paintball guns, in the middle of the motherfucking forest, were no one lives.
Well you live in New Zealand that doesn't really count
why? [editline]23rd June 2012[/editline] I wore the same shit when i was in south africa as well

Also, for anyone who thinks that they're depressed, and they spend a lot of time indoors, try to find out if you have a Vitamin D deficiency. Often times, people with a Vitamin D deficiency experience feelings of depression and misdiagnose it.
Oh, that makes sense. I have a bone disorder with a really long name and a conveniently shorter name (rickets) that is basically a vitamin D/phosphorus deficiency. I used to get extremely depressed, but often not anymore. That's interesting, I didn't know people with a vitamin D deficiency experienced those feelings. I wonder why.
Yeah man fucking hate going outside and talking to people because the only things they can do is smoke and drink
it's why i go outside
All of you need to take up fishing. Best outdoor non-sport hobby ever.
The few of you here who are trying to make it sound so easy to just go outside and have fun must be living in some kind of wonderland. As a kid, yeah I could probably have gone outside and found something to do with either my brother or neighbours. But now I'm nearly 20 (shit that makes me feel strangely old saying it like that), it's not that easy to get out and about. Because of my choices in education I've pretty much ostracised myself from my old highschool friends (they all went to pretty much the same uni), the fact I don't drink and they do pretty much any time they leave their houses also doesn't help. The one guy I managed to keep in contact with is working all the time and with his girlfriend when not. And my current group of friends from uni live nowhere near me. I used to go out riding on the offroad trails around my town with a few friends, but that isn't going to happen now for the aforementioned reasons, and it's nowhere near as fun without friends. Going to meet my mates from uni is out of the question, transport is a massive issue. There's plenty of reasons people don't go outside, especially as they get older. It doesn't mean we are any unhappier, but don't go blaming people not going outside on them being "autistic", or whatever, I expect most have pretty good reasons.
I'd go out a lot more if I had some bloody money (Been looking for a job before anyone says it)
actually I do actually go outside to go on long bike rides an ting, i'm not always drinking. admittedly it's amazing how many decent country pubs are along cycle routes

Camp FP will be the best then
This makes sense. I stay in a lot of days, but I also enjoy going out. I used to be a lot worse than I am now, but ever since I've started organising shit with friends, I've been happy more often. Even just spending half a day or so away from the computer every week has given me a sort of sense of well-being and freedom. Also, going for walks is awesome because you realise how fucking gigantic the world is- you can walk around one tiny enclosure in one tiny forest in one tiny county in one tiny country on a fairly small continent for hours, and it sort of gives you a bit of perspective.
Do we really need a study to tell that, like we're retarded or something. This Study = This song
From what I've been able to gather, one does some of these activities outside while socializing: - Smoking - Drinking - Talking with people of lesser intelligence. I really don't like doing any of those 3.
you're literally too fucking stupid to live.
why? [editline]23rd June 2012[/editline] I wore the same shit when i was in south africa as well
From what I hear Auckland doesn't get very much snow
Yea but it gets humid and hot.
I'm sure this is true if you live in a nice middle class suburban area, however when you live in a shithole full of wankers it's not so nice outside.
So you're saying this "outside" thing can make me happy? Fucking sweet! Now I just need to figure out how to find the outside
the secret's in the name
The only reason why I am unable to be outside and socialize is because all of my friends are 10 metric miles away from my place. If I look in my area for people in my age they are people which I knew from the previous school I was on, complete douche-bags. Yes my place is unfortunately a shithole.
i go out often, but going out too much is kind of exhausting
Everyone's got an excuse... but all there is to going outside is one door. Take your fucking labtop out there if you're too ADD to entertain yourself with sticks. Break in easy. Then you can move on to dirt and tire swings.
