gender != sex
Why do people care what sex others are though? It's not something that you really need to know unless they're intending on fucking you.
does every transgender thread have to have this argument? cant someone make a debate thread for that or something?
because anyone who fails to recognize the difference between a sexual identity and a gender identity
I am having hard time interpreting that post. Did you mean to say "I stand on emotionally harming people because of people who fail to recognize the difference between sexual identity and gender identity"? That doesn't make much more sense to me. Please clarify.
Because as a debate goes on it devolves from "here are my points and this is why I feel this way and this is why this is the way it is," to "BUT GUYS, YOU'RE ALL LIKE, WRONG AND SHIT!" The fact is, if you want to debate gender and sex, people will pummel the ever loving shit out of you if you are fundamentally wrong, which is the way every debate works and people don't like having a point that is actually correct i.e Woman and Female are two completely different things, dismissed by folk who feel entitled to be called female if they are fundamentally not female. Identify as a woman, no one cares, but if you're running around with meat and two veg then you're not female. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] Well done, those are secondary sexual characteristics but the crux of the argument is this: If you have a cock and balls, the chances are pretty damn good that you are genetically and anatomically male, regardless of whether or not you view yourself as a woman. I don't get how this is so offensive or difficult to grasp, male and female, and man and woman are two entirely different concepts.
You have a dick, you're supposed to put it in a vagina! It doesn't matter if you like men or not! "no one cares" what people identify as. lol what a joke. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
That's fantastic, if someone wants to be a girl then they can be a girl, but until such point in time they can mystically suck their testicles inside themselves, grow a uterus, fallopian tubes and convert their testes into ovaries and have their cock magically transform into previously aforementioned uterus as well as totally shift their bodies entire chemistry and biology, then they will always be male. I'm not saying that transgenders be referred to as their original biological sex or anything, if a guy feels more comfortable viewing themselves as a girl then I have no qualms with that or addressing them as a girl/she/her etc. but the fact is they are not female.
so what
look if you have to make a big point of you being mtf where it is irrelevant then call yourself female when that is obviously not the case as anyone who has cracked a biology book would know
They know the fact that they are not fully female, and the fact actually hurts them, not being fully realized as their desired gender. That's why its so offensive. And that's why theres so many suicide cases involving trans people. Which is why its better to not droan in their faces about it
you're getting so cranky over semantics.
You have a dick, you're supposed to put it in a vagina! It doesn't matter if you like men or not! "no one cares" what people identify as. lol what a joke. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] so what
No one here is being a homophobic douche nozzle here dude so that argument isn't really applicable, and yeah in a perfect world you've be able to fuck whoever you want as whoever you want in any way you want as often as you want, but this is an internet debate, there's a bit of a difference considering this debate is essentially over the semantics and the difference between man/woman and male/female.
i dont think anyone is arguing against the fact that by technical definition if you are by assigned gender a male, then you are a male. it doesn't matter though, unless all you care about is that technical definition and if that's the case you may have some form of autism (no offense to my burger bros)
They know the fact that they are not fully female, and the fact actually hurts them, not being fully realized as their desired gender. That's why its so offensive. And that's why theres so many suicide cases involving trans people. Which is why its better to not droan in their faces about it
so then when someone comes in to a thread where their gender/sex is completely irrelevant then starts making claims that they are female its okay to just let them be stupidly misinformed, and off topic?
No one here is being a homophobic douche nozzle here dude so that argument isn't really applicable, and yeah in a perfect world you've be able to fuck whoever you want as whoever you want in any way you want as often as you want, but this is an internet debate, there's a bit of a difference considering this debate is essentially over the semantics and the difference between man/woman and male/female.
The semantics that won't matter to 95% of outside people 95% of time but will possibly harm the particular person every time strictly kept?
well they identify as a female so what are you getting mad about
so then when someone comes in to a thread where their gender/sex is completely irrelevant then starts making claims that they are female its okay to just let them be stupidly misinformed, and off topic?
Certainly not, but don't just cram it in their face and make shove the idea so deep inside them that they won't recover, you've made your point, Crypto. Not everyone is going to understand.
so then when someone comes in to a thread where their gender/sex is completely irrelevant then starts making claims that they are female its okay to just let them be stupidly misinformed, and off topic?
I don't get why would tell them they are misinformed but offtopic, absolutely.
unless you plan on fucking the person idk what it really matters what they are technically
i dont think anyone is arguing that by technical definition if you are by assigned gender a male, then you are a male. it doesn't matter though, unless all you care about is that technical definition and if that's the case you may have some form of autism (no offense to my burger bros)
Well that's the point I'm arguing, again if you view yourself as the opposite gender that's fine, no complaints about what people do with themselves but if you're male you're male and if you're female you're female, that's fundamentally the bottom line, I'm not gonna sit and go "Yeah mate you've got a cock so deal with it bro," but the sad fact of the matter is if you have a cock, you're probably male.
The semantics that won't matter to 95% of outside people 95% of time but will possibly harm the particular person every time strictly kept?
okay let's just redefine an underpinning of science then gravity offends me can we redefine it?
Well that's the point I'm arguing, again if you view yourself as the opposite gender that's fine, no complaints about what people do with themselves but if you're male you're male and if you're female you're female, that's fundamentally the bottom line, I'm not gonna sit and go "Yeah mate you've got a cock so deal with it bro," but the sad fact of the matter is if you have a cock, you're probably male.
no shit. again, no one is arguing about the technical definitions here. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
okay let's just redefine an underpinning of science then gravity offends me can we redefine it?
no one is redefining anything or arguing definitions
gravity offends me can we redefine it?
You're just being silly now.
So much nitpicking. Just let people identify themselves how they wish 'n move on.
no shit. again, no one is arguing about the technical definitions here. [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] no one is redefining anything or arguing definitions

They know the fact that they are not fully female, and the fact actually hurts them, not being fully realized as their desired gender.
tg people want to be called female that is incorrect therefore they want to redefine female
no shit. again, no one is arguing about the technical definitions here.
Except that's exactly what the debate was about when I actually came into this thread.
look if you have to make a big point of you being mtf where it is irrelevant then call yourself female when that is obviously not the case as anyone who has cracked a biology book would know
What is the point of this argument? This is a social issue and arguing about technicalities of the term "female" or "male" completely misses the point of what the issue is about. Arguing that people who are transgender shouldn't call themselves female/male on specific technicalities isn't helpful and completely irrelevant to the social issue.
tg people want to be called female that is incorrect therefore they want to redefine female
You don't need to jam it into their face in make them feel bad.
tg people want to be called female that is incorrect therefore they want to redefine female
welp [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
Except that's exactly what the debate was about when I actually came into this thread.
ooook bravehat
How is it everyone is saying that gender and sex are two different things, and yet everyone is arguing. This thread is like a dog chasing it's own tail,
welp [editline]1st November 2012[/editline] ooook bravehat

Technically speaking yeah, MtF transpeople are not "real" females. However, they identify themselves as female, so therefore they are female.
The exact post that I replied to at the start this debate, then it snowballed off that. I get that this is clearly emotionally charged for a lot of people, but the fact is that no matter how much you want to be female, if you're not female then you're not female. I don't even get how this debate has gone on for as long as it has.
How is it everyone is saying that gender and sex are two different things, and yet everyone is arguing. This thread is like a dog chasing it's own tail,
Because sex should be of no one's concern except the individual's.
personally i check between everyone's legs before i decide what pronoun to call them who cares about the semantics of biology, transgender people know they arent the sex they think they should be. but in society you dont rub your bare crotch against everyone to make sure everyone knows what your sex is. yes, sex is biological. but unless youre in a doctors office, it doesnt really matter. gender is how you think of yourself and how the average person sees you, which is sort of a big deal.
The exact post that I replied to at the start this debate, then it snowballed off that.
okay let's just redefine an underpinning of science then gravity offends me can we redefine it?
You have no legit reason why the word gravity should offend you. There are people who will feel bad if you call them the way they don't want to be.
