Yeah I guess I have little to no knowledge of this. I tried telling myself "don't post in this thread" but my arrogance was too strong. Sorry about that.
there's one group of people who get loads of shit and who's mistreatment is completely ignored compared to the LGBT community. midgets and dwarfs. they're like the only minority left who it's okay to take the piss out of. even in mainstream media they're made fun of. the extent society dehumanises them is disgusting and should get much more attention. they're seen as clowns, people to laugh at, people who's only purpose is to look silly and entertain us privileged tall folks. they're still at the level that black people were back when they performed in circuses and wore silly make-up and were made to act like primitive jungle people. and if all that isn't enough, being short in itself makes life extremely difficult. sizeism is rampant and someone should stand up for society's vertically-challenged. check your privilege, homosexuals and transgenders. count yourself lucky you ain't 3ft tall. this post is entirely serious btw
so no one cares about my attempt to spread awareness of the plight of society's short people? all of you are sizeist bigots. oh boohoo poor homosexuals, at least they can reach the top shelf. at least people take them seriously. at least people treat them like they're still actual human beings. just think about yourselves and your double standards for a minute. i'm going to be brave here and suggest dwarfs and the rest of the vertically challenged community get it worse than the majority of LGBT people. well i've never heard any discussion on how dwarfs are treated in society. it seems hardly anyone actually cares. it's nothing to do with the african child fallacy as you put it
well i've never heard any discussion on how dwarfs are treated in society. it seems hardly anyone actually cares. it's nothing to do with the african child fallacy as you put it
I don't see you discussing children in Africa starving. What do you not care about them or something?
I don't see you discussing children in Africa starving. What do you not care about them or something?
Don't feed the troll. Seriously, don't even care about him, he'll leave soon enough. He's obviously a troll and has exposed himself the instant he's used the word midget and dwarf to actually designate little persons. It's like someone saying "niggers should be treated as real people" while being totally serious.
I thought dwarfism was the politically correct term?
Odbod, you bring up some good points about dwarfs, but this isn't the appropiate thread for 'em.
I thought dwarfism was the politically correct term?
Not really.
Yeah I guess I have little to no knowledge of this. I tried telling myself "don't post in this thread" but my arrogance was too strong. Sorry about that.
If you don't have knowledge about it, rather than just speculating or whatever it is you're doing, it would be better to make an effort to actually learn rather than talking about how things should be while not having knowledge of them. The only time I'm aware of that taking testosterone is the proper course of action is for men who are low on testosterone (that does not mean mtf transgender people, their situation is not caused by being merely low on testosterone) or for ftm transgender people who are transitioning to leading a male life. Past that I know it definitely is not a proper course of action for a mtf transgender person, therefore rather than speculating or assuming I know better, that's all I would say on that specific subject.
So um yeah could someone a bit more qualified than ROLFBURGER answer my question [editline]2nd November 2012[/editline] This one that is
Well what do you mean by "shitty results"? Males can get testosterone replacement therapy which is usually prescribed for hypogonadism (the gonads no longer function in a way that produces testosterone naturally, or has greatly reduced function leading to very low testosterone levels) Low testosterone is actually linked to a number of health problems, mood disorders etc. Now more and more research is showing the benefits of getting men's testosterone back into the normal or high-normal range. The funny thing is it wasn't all that long ago that testosterone was being demonized by the media and the medical world. TRT protocols usually give men greater testosterone levels than they would've had naturally, but they still normally fall within physiological range for men, sometimes a little above depending on the doctor and the protocol. What steroid abusers do is take testosterone in supraphysiological dosages. Obviously the goal here is to greatly improve the rate of muscle building and strength adaptations (or in the case of professional athletes, to improve their injury recovery rate, performance etc) of which it does very well. However yes there are shitty side effects to long term steroid abuse. Most of which can be minimized or avoided completely with proper measures, others not so much but are usually only seen in cases of very long term abuse.
biden is the SHIT he should be next prez after obama wins this next one

I like the transgender megathread. Everyone there is just so happy and supportive of each other, it brings a smile to my blackened cynical heart.
i'm not gonna be popular for saying this but imo it's just weird and unsettling looking at a transgender and being unable to discern whether you should consider them a man or a woman (and all the deviations from social norms associated with a gender switch), regardless of views on it
i'm not gonna be popular for saying this but imo it's just weird and unsettling looking at a transgender and being unable to discern whether you should consider them a man or a woman (and all the deviations from social norms associated with a gender switch), regardless of views on it
It's really not difficult, if it needs to be done then just ask them how they wish to be addressed, and then address them accordingly.
trans women are women [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] and transgender is an adjective
It's really not difficult, if it needs to be done then just ask them how they wish to be addressed, and then address them accordingly.
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
I do not have this feeling
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
Sorry mate but that's just you.
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
The only problem I've had when calling a transgender person the correct way is when I've been near someone for a long time before he/she came out, so I tend to use the wrong word out of pure habit. And it's not even that much of an issue because it's people I know and I'm just getting it right with time.
i'm not gonna be popular for saying this but imo it's just weird and unsettling looking at a transgender and being unable to discern whether you should consider them a man or a woman (and all the deviations from social norms associated with a gender switch), regardless of views on it
if you meet one in real life your opinion will probably change the thing is that if you've only read about trans people second-hand it's easy to form these sorts of stereotypes in your head, where they take on all these extra weird traits and you end up subconsciously construing them as something other than human. if you actually meet one on real life you'll be like "oh they're just a person"
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
yeah no I'm related to one no such feeling
yeah but you always have that feeling something isn't right, even though you know it's wrong and prejudicial
Not really, no. I have two friends who are transgender and both of them are pretty alright to hang around, both before and after they came out. (wooo anecdotes)

Take it to that thread rather than continuing to force your point into a thread where it's irrelevant then.
