If those sentences to life, then sure why not!
Murder is illegal these days.

Yes I like the idea that someone is in control if I live or die because I have done nothing wrong to justify the means. If you can't understand that then oh well.
Okay but that's no reason to trust your life to people you don't know, just because you haven't done anything to incur their wrath
What if they change the definition of a crime and the punishment for it to your misfortune?
Most of all, what if they get the wrong person. The fact that the justice system is not infallible should be reason enough not to put your life in the government's hands.

The way I see it, it costs your country thousands upon thousands of dollars to keep scum like this man alive in a holding cell until he dies, when much less time, money, and effort could be made wiping him off the face of the Earth.
I don't hold much faith in an afterlife, so my general consensus would be that his being would cease to exist and he would never harm anything that lives ever again. And if there is a Hell, he's going there.
While I agree it is rather frightening that the Government has the right to kill citizens, once someone is put into prison most of their rights are forfeit. For people so plainly irredeemable as the DC Sniper, the most logical option is to kill them. America already has enough prisoners as it is, and it really isn't worth it to anyone else to keep this type of person alive.
I think that the requirements for someone to be executed should be as such that the person would have to be so far beyond rehabilitation (the primary purpose of a prison system, or at least it should be) that it would be of no real gain to keep them alive.
Careful where you go with the 'eye for an eye' argument. In Saudi Arabia you get your arm hacked off for stealing gum. No joke. I lived there.

thread is already flooded with 'costs more money to put them down'.
Yes, their rights are forfeit, it's a consequences, but LIFE is the most important one, bigger than Liberty and Property, in which the United fucking States of America is found.
And is that it? We should just plainly kill the guy with no remorse of guilt? This reminds me of something, oh right, the DC Sniper.
It already sucks that the terrorists doing shit like 9/11 forced us to accept the PATRIOT act and etc. , now people like the DC Sniper made us welcome the fucking death sentence.
Should the family of the justifiably killed have the right to murder the Judge who sentenced the man to death? After all, their the family and they must grieve of their deaths!
Being in Hawaii, where it's a #1 in Meth consumption, and having tons of people murdered due to the influence of this, I see no difference in people who actively supports murder and those who commit it.
I mean, holy shit, no wonder there are so many misanthropes are around, people are crying for murder

 I like how you tried so hard by throwing out notations. Yes you understood what I meant yet you still go ahead and give me examples. Since your OCD is getting the better of you, let me rephrase it. A killer who is killed leads to less killing. Better?
Yes I like the idea that someone is in control if I live or die because I have done nothing wrong to justify the means. If you can't understand that then oh well.
Being in prison for the rest of your life and confined in a small area until you die isn't the same as being an average citizen last time I checked, and it's already been discussed that the legal proceedings to execute someone costs far more than to keep them in prison for life, so nothing in your post makes any sense.
Here's how to avoid the legal costs.
We find the defendant guilty on all charges.
I sentence you to death.
BAM! Shot out back.

Rapists I'd have killed. It's almost worse than death in a way. Robbers and thieves didn't take a life.

let's look at everything with cost in mind

Just incase your American, I recommend you get the fuck out of our country if you like the death sentence so much. Much more barbaric countries like Iran is more fitting for you, sir.
So are you really comfortable with the idea that a group of people that you don't know are in control of your life and death?
I mean if you are I guess that's your opinion but it seems very naive
And since you merely used 2 equal signs with nothing else to go on you're explicitly stating that
a killer is equal to killed
killed is equal to less people being killed
a killer is equal to less people being killed
Those things are not equal they don't even make sense within the same context, what you should have said (and of course I understand what you meant, but I wanted to nitpick your odd choice of sentence structure) was
Killer + killed = less people being killed
An eye for an eye makes us all blind.
Why? Or are you trying to suggest that maximum security prisons have shit security?
obviously, this maximum security prisons are like in the movies. Filled with fatass rent-a-cops hired from the mall, tasers, 1 foot wall, plastic bars, and every inmate has kung fu powers to overpower guards.
totally not maximum security prison in reality where the inmate can't socialize with anyone, stuck inside his prison 24/7 except ten minute breaks outside while being guarded by armed guards, electrified fences, and snipers from towers.
I remember a friend telling me about this. I came up with the idea to make fun of him until he died. Turned out he died forty minutes after we stopped.
