I remember the shootings pretty clearly since I live in Maryland. That was pretty scary, especially when that kid was shot pretty soon after the police said children would be safe from the snipers. I believe was only 12 at the time and I think the kid that was shot was around the same age.
The man admits he would do it again. You execute him to ensure he doesn't kill more people.
How is that Eugenics?
Saying you believe in murder so long as it betters society can include the death-penalty, but would likely include Eugenics because better genes do better society.
I think I remember seeing like a history channel documentary on this guy but I can't remember the exact name. Either that or I am imagining fake memories.
Jeez... When you execute more people than Russia, you've gotta be doing something wrong.

Except executions aren't murder.
Was this guy provoked in any way or did he just wake up one morning and feel like sniping people?
Jeez... When you execute more people than Russia, you've gotta be doing something wrong.
Or you know, we have a large population and some crazy ass psychos--
STRIP THE FLESH!
SALT THE WOUND!

Where at? I live in Bel Air...
Also, he's dead now.
I've said it before and I'm saying it again; The US is a developing country.
What right have society to decide who lives and who dies?
And what right does this man to choose who lives and who dies?
Except executions aren't murder.
You kill a person who isn't a threat to you, at least not an immediate threat.
[editline]09:07PM[/editline]
And what right does this man to choose who lives and who dies?
None. That's why he's in jail.
heh, i remember this. we got school off a week because this guy got sniped by this dude at a mall near us
why not exucute people who kill people?
also, since we seem to be arguing about the death penalty now -- it's much worse to spend your life getting raped in jail and dying in a cold cell than being killed instantly.
I'm don't want to pay for him to be raped.
I'm don't want to pay for him to be raped.
You'll have to pay more for him to be killed.
I fully support execution.
Life Sentence is like torture, kept in for all your remaining years?
Besides he won't get anything out of it except free food, and a free steel box to live in.
His suffering doesn't do anyone good.
Plus it's a drain of space, and tax.
What could that be used for.... hmm...
Oh I don't know
-Education
-Public Infrastructure
-Homeless Relief
-Government Employees
-Recession Relief
It's your choice.
A.Either keep this guy who killed 10 people alive, who probably doesn't really get anything from this, and keep tax money from those who need it
B.Use it to better educate us Americans who thanks to "against-capital punishment" people are keeping us from making informed decisions.
Choice A results in Negative Feedback, less tax funding= less education, which then leads to more people against capital punishment, and thus starting this cycle again.
Or
Choice B results in Positive Feedback, more tax funding= more education, which leads to more people for capital punishment, and thus starting the cycle again.
It's. Your. Choice.
Middle Eastern people really aren't creative with their names are they?

You're fucking stupid.
Middle Eastern people really aren't creative with their names are they?
According to Islam, most Sunnis and all Shi'ites believe in the 2nd coming of Mohammed, and it basically says he will be called ... "Mohammed" so naming your shild Mohammed= having "Jesus for Muslims" as your kid.
I think he is dead already.

I don't feel particularly sorry for him, but still, the state should not be executing anyone regardless of what they did.
You people are pussies who are too scared to execute a dangerous, hated criminal.
Grow some balls please.
I hate how they publicize this. It's quite disturbing knowing how and when exactly someone died, I just can't help but imagine how they felt.
I know that a lot of people like the death penalty and how it saves money but I can't bring myself to truly support it. Although I'm glad he's not killing people anymore, I'm not going to cheer or praise his execution. Death is a sad thing, whether it's the death of someone you hate or not.

As angry as I was, I have to admit that there is truth in your words. We should never take pleasure from killing anyone, regardless of the person's crimes. To kill is never right.
But sometimes, it is necessary.
You kill a person who isn't a threat to you, at least not an immediate threat.
So by this logic, a sniper in the military who shoots a member of an enemy military who is not aware of him is commiting murder.

:siren:Internet tough guy alrert!:siren:
People are so fucking petty. First instinct with you derelicts is "kill him! he's a murderer!!" and doing that doesn't make you people any better than him. Killing him doesn't change anything, all it does is leaves you with a dead body, and makes the state a murderer too.
Blue = Abolished for all offenses (94)
Green = Abolished for all offenses except under special circumstances (10)
Orange = Retains, though not used for at least 10 years (35)
Red = Retains death penalty (58)
I guess we can add abolition of capital punishment to the list of stuff America just doesn't fucking get. I'll just put it here right under social democracy, the metric system, gay marriage...
Hey now, most Americans weren't raised under the metric system. That part's not really our fault. Though I agree with some of the others.

But subjecting him to, what, 40 years of living in a steel box with only a small window to the outside?
This doesn't help him, he doesn't get any chance of parole (the 500 years in prison kind of thing, not the life sentence thing), and he may be able to think over it, but it doesn't help anyone. He's a drain on space and tax money, and all these years of thinking in prison is good for nothing at all.
There's no reason to leave him alive, suffering, because of "morals", which is quite ironic.
To quote you,

Except he actually went out of his way to kill someone, several people nonetheless, for no good reason, and you're telling the people that lost their loved ones or have been sent into fear by this man that they are no better than him?
He deserves death because he shot several people, people who were out doing their daily activities and life, and watched them die for shits and giggles.
Ronald Ryan was the last man to be hung in Australia, 3rd February 1967.
He was then found innocent 19 years after his execution.
This is why I don't understand capital punishment.
