There are only one or two people on Facepunch who could possibly be described as "ultra-liberal"
As compared to what, Democratic Underground?
Personally he's not a bigot, but he might as well be because his personal views don't mean shit if he doesn't put them into his job
Pretty much yeah
Well I'm just wondering how the idea of opposing abortion automatically makes you a misogynist, maybe his reasoning makes him that, but Zeke didn't specify that at all, he just kinda said "he doesn't like abortion he is sexist bastard!!"
Like the article I quoted said, the anti-abortion movement is grounded in misogynist ideas, primarily that women are a means to an end (babbys) and men should make the important decisions about reproduction. It's not 100% certain that he's a misogynist, but given his positions on other things it seems likely to me.
And I guess he's making fun of those one or two people
P. sure he's being genuine. Zeke is conservative on some issues iirc but still pretty liberal.
who are they
:smug:
Trotsky and Mane?
And probably me.
Pro life people are against women having control over over their own uterus.
If I don't feed my kid and he starves do you think I can just say that you're trying to control my food?
That's not to say anything about my actual stance on abortion, but that argument is frankly invalid and overused.

Those aren't quite the same.
How is it that Bush gets blamed for the economy going downhill when it started before he came into office, yet when the economy tanks after Obama gets into office, it's the leftover effects of Bush's presidency?
Double standard much?
No, Ridge, it's logic.
The economy doesn't reset per new president.
Those aren't quite the same.
They're both about claiming control about certain elements necessary for a human to live absolve responsibility to use said elements.
Of course that just brings up the question of when a fetus should be considered alive. Therefore the "my body my right" argument merely leads to an entirely different argument, so it's useless.
How ya figure that, champ?
He's against gay marriage and civil rights laws.

Since most abortions occur when the fetus looks like a seamonkey I think it's fair to say it's the right of the mother.
I hardly see how abortion makes you a misogynist
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Being against women's right makes you a misogynist.

which Trotsky?

Again, there are too many counter-arguments about how it "will be a human eventually". Really all I'm trying to do is prevent you from using an argument that doesn't work. There are plenty of other arguments if you really want one.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

[editline]16th November 2010[/editline]
which Trotsky?
Yeah uh, not supporting abortion doesn't make you sexist, I mean yeah if you look deep at it sure, maybe. But that is not what they are fighting for, they aren't fighting for "taking away woman's rights yeah!" they're fighting for fetuses being humans still.

my sperm could have been a baby too
my sperm could have been a baby too
You're proving my point, it's a gridlocked stalemated argument. It's invalid.

I didn't set out to disprove you or nothing

Wait, what the fuck? The economy tanked BEFORE Obama was elected. Don't you remember when Obama and McCain met with Bush in Washington to pass the bailout?

But calling him a misogynist for that is the same as when people call Obama a communist.
Exaggerated scare words.
"Jeb...seems to have the same knack for bringing people together that his big brother had for driving them apart.

America needs another bush like..well there is nothing else that can compare to the size of not needing that something can have

Are you referring to my dislike of gun control? Because that's actually fairly liberal, in the classical sense.
What kinda fucking name is Jeb? It's like some name you would give to a a pet rat or something.

I don't believe it's a fact that opposing abortion means you automatically hate women.
I don't believe it's a fact that opposing abortion means you automatically hate women.
How does opposing women's rights not equate to hating women?
I've thought about this for a while now and I cannot find any path that doesn't link the two

they dont hate women, they like the things that there religious leaders say more

Abrahamic religions are inherently misogynistic

A foetus isn't human
and if you take away rights of a gay, you're a homophobe.

Because it's not a woman's rights issue. Pro life, pro choice, both of those are buzzwords based on not at all true overly simplified misconceptions that are easy to sell. It's a hell of a lot more complex than that. It's probably one of the single most complicated issues of our time.
