I guess they have to come up with a new portable tool for EMTs or just GPs to use. The bell end of a stethoscope might be able to hear it maybe a "swooshing" sound.
To all the people speculating whether it has an auto-adjusting regulator, I doubt you'd be allowed to do a ton of physical activity if you have a bionic heart. I'm sure there would be certain guidelines, like no running, no extreme physical activity etc.
I wonder if it would need to be cleaned occasionally, and what would be it power supply? Maybe the spinning of the turbines is somehow self charging? Perhaps now we're a step closer to plugging hex-core processors into our brains...
Funny, I just finished reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
If I were in a situation were it was get one of these or die, I'd get one. The first thing I'd do with my amazing new Bionic Heart would be...
Write my will. You guys realize this thing is designed to prolong life by a few months at most, not indefinitely, right?
Blood pressure wouldn't be a problem with that. Right?
I imagine that regulation would be a problem regardless, hard to get enough blood moving for activities. I'm not sure that the device acts as well as the normal system does
May I have a source please to show how awesome science is progressing.

I bet its feels better then death.
Nothing feels better than death, but nothing feels worse. You don't feel in death.

And that's exactly why I think it's designed to prolong life temporarily, not perpetually.
So i guess most people in politics have this heart ?
Because none of them have any heartbeat
I wonder if they could create an artificial pulse of some sorts for this thing? Just to help out EMTs and the like if the person stops breathing.
If someone is unconscious, it could a bit of a problem. :v:
Surely they would have a wire coming out of them to indicate that they have an artificial heart?
So how soon until I get to start calling myself a necromancer?
-snip-
so basically we are dead?
