All these shots of how scary the new specimens look makes me wonder one thing: what's the Scrake going to look like if/when KF2 does the Summer Sideshow event?
I really hope they'll do holiday events with this one.
I dont see why they wouldnt.

Christmas Gorefast is best.
"I'M DELICIOUS!"
The horror!

That's either two new zeds or clot variants.
Maybe I'm just thinking too deep, but the bugger on the far left looks like a failed mutation between a Gorefast and a Crawler.
The point isnt so much that I cant hear the audio of the zeds, so much as that it grates on my nerves so much to the point that I cant concentrate. Sure, its all down to personal taste, but screamo-death-metal is really not my thing. It doesnt suit the game ~at all~ in my opinion and at the end of the day, for me, its a more enjoyable game with it turned off.
The only tune that seemed half-fitting was BledDry, but even then it seems to me like it should be a panic-event sort of sound, like if you were 'downed' in Left 4 Dead. After the first 30 seconds or so of the song it just drags ooooon and ooooon and the tension or element of atmosphere its supposed to give is long since gone.
If you think this isn't fitting for KF, then please stop.

Need to stick that in the KF2 OP.
I understand that people have different tastes, but I honestly can't wrap my head around not feeling like the music fits the game considering it's so god damn metal
what isn't more badass than having metal playing in the background when blowing mutant heads off?
This discussion about music is rather pointless since its all down to personal taste - but I'll just say ~I~ personally found the music in KF to be incredibly droll and grating to listen to. Its just... noise. To me, it doesnt feel like it has any beat, emotion or atmosphere to it.
Considering KF was based off a mod for Unreal Tournament, and considering both games feature intense violence, I thought it fitting to link what ~I~ think is some of the greatest gaming music I've heard, at least for the genre of an action game. Obviously it doesnt fit a horror game, an RPG or whatever, but then again its all purely subjective.
If the music is anything like the first KF, I'll just turn it off and continue playing. KF is an awesome game, and turning off the music doesnt really add or subtract anything of significant mention beyond personal taste.

Yeah, there's some "rock" metal in UT's sound track too with some screaming bits, but the song it accompanies has a beat and it feels more fitting. I guess as far as my personal opinion goes, its just a comparison of a good song to a bad song, UT's being good, KF's being bad, despite some songs being of a similar genre.
Some people like apples. Some like oranges. Whatever.
how the fuck can you say "abandon all" has no beat, emotion, or atmosphere?

It's drowning in all three. And it's not the only song, but personally I think it's the best song to use as an example.
Just thought I'd add, I've love to see a flying type of Zed. Give us a reason to aim beyond horizontal / at the floor. Give us reason to look UP for once.
This could be fixed by also enabling Crawlers to climb / walk on walls and ceilings, but a flying Zed of some sort would still be nice. Maybe make it extremely fragile with some sort of ranged attack, or some sort of thing that dives in for a stab and then flies away.
I guess I just felt that the Zeds in the original KF were too static, due to game-engine limitations. Since then, we've seen games like Left 4 Dead where the zombies will scale and clamber over intervening obstacles to get to you. We've seen walking tentacle vehicles in UT3. We've seen enemies in other games, like the Mechs in FEAR that smash their way through barriers and cars and stuff.
I'd just like to see some of that in KF2, which we almost surely will.
Rather the immersion-breaking 4th wall of 'if I stand here I know the Zeds will walk exactly in a straight line to get to me here'.
> Edit, in response above.
To me, the Pat theme just doesnt sound very nice. Yes, it has a thumping rock background to it, but the treble in the sound feels way off. It has no bass, at all. The tune of the sound just seems off. Yeah yeah, its down to personal opinion, but to me its just noise. Its not a song or a tune or beat.

you're kidding me right
I find it really weird how people can talk about how fitting an extremely dark, gritty, brutal soundtrack is for Killing Floor in one breath and then in the next breath talk about how they want wacky carnival enemies and ridiculous steampunk characters to come back. Personally I really liked when Killing Floor was dark, serious, and almost scary, but in the years since release that feeling has kind of evaporated and now the soundtrack seems almost ridiculous when you're fighting gingerbread men as Harry Enfield with a ray gun.
Great, now I'll be killing psychotic gingerbread gorefasts in even greater detail and horror.
The Holiday events are going to be more horrifying.
Those whacky seasonal updates also kept the life in a game that probably would have died without them
also how can you not love this shit

Personally the only event I really liked was the christmas one. Summer Sideshow was meh, halloween was just a reskin of Summer Sideshow and Hillbilly Horror was kinda boring. In any case I never saw that any of the later additions to KF really detracted from the horror aspect. Rather, it became more insane and deranged and at the same time fun and a little silly. It stayed fresh. I don't see what's so silly about Roboclaus when he's got a bloody rocket launcher for an arm.
Wow, it's so nice to see the tolerance going on around here.
1."Hey, I don't like this music because I don't think it fits/I don't like it/whatever, but I have my tastes and you have yours so its okay"

I think it's more along the line of:
"You're objectively wrong, so your opinion is flawed/baseless."
Which was verified when he incorrectly stated KF's music genre.
So what's the problem? Better to correct someone's mistakes than to let them drown in sugar-coated ignorance.

That sounds like such an annoying Zed type. Crawlers spawn from a lot of high areas anyway.

To reiterate what has already been posted, hes not being dumbed because he doesn't like the killing floor soundtrack and we do, or even because he disagrees on whether it it fits with the atmosphere-
hes being dumbed because, despite being corrected twice, he is still getting the genre wrong and stating its terrible based on the usual tired criticisms of those genres.
It would be like posting how Justin bieber is your favorite indie rock artist, then continuing to refer to him as such after the subsequent boxfort.
You can also just replace the music files of the game with your own things if the music hurts you so.
I have a friend who does this for a lot of his games, but he did not do it to Killing Floor because the music is so good and fitting to how the game plays out.
I mean, if I saw something like almost 3-meter tall, low-voiced Patriarch charge at you with a minigun and a rocket-launcher I just can't imagine anything else than metal playing.
You can also cut off the music completely and play your own music

Yet the people praising it as 'metal' aren't getting dumbed, despite being just as wrong.
I don't like the soundtrack because most of the tracks lack a distinctive bassline, beat, or melody, so I find they blend into the background as sheer noise and stop being music. As music I could see myself listening to it on its own, but as a soundtrack I don't think it works. I would love for KF2 to have something like the Resident Evil soundtrack, a little more metal and a little less D&B, more tracks like 'Abandon All', as opposed to tracks like 'Smiles and sLaughter'.
