Around Midway and Guadalcanal, we Americans got a bit more important. With the fighting in Europe, somebody had to go fight in the Pacific. (Not to say that the Aussies didn't help. Guys were damn useful and protected their own.)
None better than ANZAC to aid in that front.
None better than ANZAC to aid in that front.
When it comes to ANZAC I don't know shit. Other than my pops watching Mel Gibson in "Gallipoli" every time I come to visit, I mean. :v:
It's really naive to believe either side isn't about to say whatever they can to you to get you on their side. Honestly, the movie The Campaign seems like the most accurate depiction of how politics in this country work. In other news, Paul Ryan fires his speech writer.
Y'know. when a lie gets this outright obvious in Europe, the politician in question is often forced to withdraw in shame, or is such a controversy whore that he goes through with it to milk it up to the last second, where he only gets 10 votes anyway...
You're spot on. I was watching his speech last night, no, actually it was the entire convention. Everyone up there was just saying "We're going to fix this! Obama messed it up! But now it's time for America's come back! We'll do it!" Without even saying how and everybody just kept applauding.
full comic
Take your american exceptionalism elsewhere, yes you have an impact in the world, but you're not the centre of it. Bolded where not made by the americans, no matter how much you may think so. America also didn't somehow pull WW2 out of it's ass saving everyone else from the big bad axis. No, that's not history.
In all fairness the war would have come out much different without the US. You most likely would have won yes but still.
He accused the president of "political patronage" via his $800bn stimulus plan, passed in 2008. However, he neglected in his speech to mention that he sought to procure stimulus dollars for energy firms in his home state of Wisconsin, the Associated Press notes.
Typical Republican. Decries public spending when it helps the poor or the underrepresented, but as soon as it's to their benefit they jump on the government teat faster than anybody else.
Just saw an interview where a republican defends Romney ignoring parts of their party program because "It's really not our place to dictate someone else's life." That was rich. I almost died of irony.
Oh god, if only... The only people that care he lied are Democrats. Republicans watch Fox, and Fox spends all day and all night telling people that every other source of information on the entire planet except for Fox is part of a liberal conspiracy. People that vote for Romney/Ryan will never see or hear anything to suggest that Ryan's speech contained anything but absolute truth. They live in a completely different reality independent from any meddling little "facts".
FoxNews.com is calling him out on his shit. The level of madness has officially entered Plaid territory. [editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
In all fairness the war would have come out much different without the US. You most likely would have won yes but still.
The Third Reich probably would have never made it to the U.S. Mainland, but all of Europe would have been speaking either German or Russian today depending on which alternate continuity you view.
Actually, it's their sources and sub sources, that aren't themselves, that provide the smoking guns. for example: Forbes on the medicare cuts, GazetteXtra.com on the GM plant closure, Plus here's an interview with Obama where he admits to cutting Medicare to fund his program: Plus we have a cbs video that shows the plant closed in 2009: Oh, and last I knew, trolls don't provide sources or proof.
the vast majority of production was shut down before Obama's inauguration. the plant was decidely done and going to be shut down completely before Obama was president. a
looool yet another case of republicans thinking they can "defy reality" they truly are... wicked
I think I see what you did there, and I like it.
I think I see what you did there, and I like it.
people don't get puns based on musicals... typical facepunch
I love the BBC for these sorts of articles. Very good.

This hive mind is so vacant of any originality and is full of hypocrisy. You all decry Fox news for being biased and preying on emotion while you continually spout the same old shit. And the worst part is that you all hold the smug opinion that you're so wise and right. How the hell can you think that your opinion of Republicans is so adamant? You throw all Republicans into this pot of hate that you've conjured up. You ignore Republicans who do a lot of good like Darrell Issa. And then you let Democrats like Patty Murray who thrive on corruption and stupidity, slide by. Do you realize that the extent of your ignorance rivals and perhaps even dwarfs that of your anathema (Fox News)? The opinions on this sub forum are just trash, and they would be laughed off by any legitimate sector of academia or intelligentsia.

I live in Chicago. I think there are a lot of good republicans as well. The remnants of the "fiscally conservative party" I think that there are plenty of democratic sources (dailykos) that prey on emotion, etc. It's American politics, stupid and partisan.
he's just a chuckling Randian fuckhead
That's not a word and no he's not. All I want is for people to take the time to recognize when they are ignorant and really look at how their opinions are formed. This isn't about ideology, it's about partisan hypocrisy.
who the fuck are darrell issa and patty murray
Two extremely famous US politicians? Darrel Issa is the wealthiest politician in congress and Patty Murray is senator for Washington State and one of the highest ranking democrats. If you don't have the faintest clue who they are, why do you even comment on US politics?
How the hell can you think that you're opinion of Republicans is so adamant?
I'm not sure, how can they think that they are opinion of republicans is so adamant?
who the fuck are darrell issa and patty murray
well if you want more examples of shitbag democrats look at Rod Blagojevich. an example of a good republican is Eisenhower, who spoke out against the military-industrial complex
I'm not sure, how can they think that they are opinion of republicans is so adamant?
A typo or oversight, nice retort to my argument. You're furthering my point about the value of the discussion on this forum.

Darrel Issa is the wealthiest politician in congress and Patty Murray is senator for Washington State and one of the highest ranking democrats. If you don't have the faintest clue who they are, why do you even comment on US politics?
I obviously don't comment on what darrel issa and patty murray are doing. [editline]31st August 2012[/editline]
well if you want more examples of shitbag democrats look at Rod Blagojevich. an example of a good republican is Eisenhower, who spoke out against the military-industrial complex
Eisenhower would be more of a democrat if he were around today.
You're furthering my point about the value of the discussion on this forum.
Well, okay then, why the fuck are you posting here? This is like, the ninth time you've come into a thread to tell everyone that they're wrong and you're right because they're saying that people are wrong and that they are right.
I really don't get where you got this impression that facepunch likes to worship democrats and the holy ground they touch.
Smell that? Smells like persecution complex.
Smell that? Smells like persecution complex.
It's like how fox news likes to complain about the mainstream liberal media while also gloating about how their ratings dwarf all others.
Eisenhower would be more of a democrat if he were around today.
Why do people insist on always connecting former Republicans with the current democratic party? I could understand you calling Lincoln a democrat, although in truth he could be associated with both modern parties. But Eisenhower? Hell, Kennedy came right after does that mean he would be more of a Republican if he were around today?
