Google’s YouTube has reached a deal to buy Twitch, a popular videogame-streaming company, for more than $1 billion, according to sources familiar with the pact.
The deal, in an all-cash offer, is expected to be announced imminently, sources said. If completed the acquisition would be the most significant in the history of YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006 for $1.65 billion. The impending acquisition comes after longtime Google ad exec Susan Wojcicki was named CEO of YouTube earlier this year.

Can't be anything but good, IMO. Twitch needs money, maybe then they'll get competent admins and the ability to afford that EXPENSIVE transcoding so they can give all channels a "low" quality option.
fix the delay pls
Live Copyright Claims
Google+ integration with Twitch.
and i thought youtube was done trying to force G+ everywhere. i don't see what's bad about it.
well, the copyright system, maybe. that might mess up some game streamers.
Doubt Twitch could get any worse than it is now with a forced 15-20s delay
Maybe they'll just intergrate Twitch into their "Youtube Live" thing
fix the delay pls
delay is intentional, go to hitbox if you don't want a delay
Hahahahaha, so much for turbospergs suggesting "leaving youtube for twitch".
I'm not exactly trusting of that source.
variety's been in the business for like 20 years
do you really think they'd let some random idiot's thoughts get posted?
Damn. I was hoping to see some competition between Twitch and Youtube (at least in the gaming department) in the future, but it looks like it's not going to happen.
It would've been a lot better if anybody else than Youtube/Google bought it imo.
You get a copyright violation, you get a copyright violation, and you get a copyright violation!
This can only be bad news.
Hitbox is better anyway, I don't really think we're losing anything of value if it gets bought by YT
I accidentally read Twitch as Twitter & was very angered.
abandon ship
You get a copyright violation, you get a copyright violation, and you get a copyright violation!
whoa, that's three, GET THE FUCK OUT YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT PIRATE
what do you mean "check if they're real?"
What isn't being fucking bought up these days?
Seriously, any popular service that comes out gets bought up and consumed by some bigger giant. Google bought youtube, now twitch has been bought, tumblr was bought by yahoo, oculus was bought by facebook, etc.
Already got my G+ account ready for Twitch commentating.
i dont really see a problem here, twitch sucks ass as it is due to server crashing/delays and youtube has good servers and barely any delay on streams
I don't see how this is a bad thing, Youtube is already losing the G+ integration and it's not like Twitch is exactly high quality right now. If this means we don't have to deal with 20 second delays and crashes completely at random then what's the problem?
i wonder if you could apply an anti-trust law to something like this considering it's a free service

Garry wouldn't do that to us.

Let's be honest here, Garry's probably looking to pay people to not have to deal with us anymore.
aaaand time to migrate to hitbox

pffft haha like there's any commercial interest in Facepunch, we're just a forum, no service is provided except for banning people

It's already easy to imagine.

What video-related site would Google have to attempt to acquire before anti-monopoly measures would be taken?
If it's true, this is terrible news. It's the lack of competition that lets Google/YouTube get away with shit like the terrible G+ integration or the sometimes truly ridiculous DMCA harass on non-network channels.
What's next, Microsoft buying Reddit?
