You are right, it makes no sense since all they do is lock the workers inside the plant at night, who cares where they live.
What does the workers living away from the plant have to do with him pointing out that it's located a few hundred meters from a state border?
I'm glad they built it East of Atlanta... I live in Marietta; West of Atlanta... I don't mind it at all, but I'd still rather be as far away from it as possible.
There has never been a serious accident involving a reactor built to proper standards.
France gets over 70% of its power from nuclear if I remember correctly, if placed and maintained properly it is a very useful energy source.
However, it is still a limited source. We won't run out too fast and the more we learn about how to refine the element from uranium ore the more we can effectively use, its still only a placeholder.
The problem with nuclear power is not by how dangerous it is, but where we will store the waste and the monitoring of that waste.
Too bad this is hours from me
We have a nuclear power plant on the California coast that looks like a giant pair of tits.
Beat that, Georgia.
San Onefre! I can verify this, people even refer to them as "the tits" when driving by.

France sure does have their shit together when it comes to looking towards the future. You can say what you want about them but at least they have the courage to rely on alternative energy sources. Not like the US and most of the rest of the world, we're still stuck with oil-powered generators.
Hey I live in Georgia
Not relevant at all of course. I'm happy to see nuclear power coming back into the fold after the Fukushima meltdown.
Me too bro
I remember a study being done in the US with their radioactive waste and the places they were considering burying/placing it as nuclear power went on the rise in the future.
I found it fascinating how they brought up the point of how to label the underground storehouse if it was to be discovered by civilizations hundreds or thousands of years in the future where all current languages are not used. How will they know what is contained behind the doors?
They were actually planning to use colors like red or yellow that are considered universal in danger or caution.
WTF?
I thought countries were stopping nuclear powered shit (except China).
This is good news. :D

No, it's just the Green peace organizations have been protesting and rallying this idea for a while, which pressures politicians. I think the idea that Tokyo as hit by an earthquake but is fine even with all the damage actually strengthened the technology of the current nuclear reactors. Which would be very ironic.

In 3000 years they'll uncover it and take note of the warning signs but open it anyway and think they unleashed some kings curse when they all die.
[editline]9th February 2012[/editline]
Therefore I propose we make the entrance a Temple/Tomb like gauntlet of passages, booby traps, and secret rooms.
GREENPEACE PLEASE FUCK OFF
I'm from Georgia and I support Nuclear Power!

Bu..but Star Wars clearly revealed that when you put a bunch of booby traps around tombs it just makes people want to go in more!
[sp]Referring to KoToR when all the sith try and enter the old tombs and generally die horrible deaths until Revan comes along and goes in all of them for treasure and acts like "u mad bro?" to the instructors and students.[/sp]
A modern nuclear reactor is nice to see. But why take advantage of the situation and make a thorium reactor?
Can't implement it yet. At least, not in the way you're thinking, I think.
Reactor materials need to be tested really thoroughly, and last I knew the chart saying "this is safe up to X across Y for all Z" had a big bunch of question marks in it for thorium. They're working on it. It's not like switching from one fuel mix to another, and doing some tweaking, it's more like trying to build a completely different engine using similar principles.
But that's for crazy new shit. If you're talking, like, using it in general, copying one of the existing designs, they're not because it's, well, worse.
