Hmm I might actually take school off and take the Subway to Oakland I only live like 30 mins away.
I highly doubt that everyone will leave work, school, etc. for a strike
Wow, seriously? There are strikes all the time, this one is just an ideologically motivated one.
if you don't have a personal reason to strike, strike for solidarity
Media is going to have a field day when police get out of control and end up beating the living shit out of some of the protesters, which will undoubtedly happen.
It seemed to me that Occupy had gone media-quiet in the last few months and that the idea of the Occupy Movement had blended into the political landscape and was no longer deemed as newsworthy. I really hope that this strike brings the issues they presented out of the fog and into the limelight again, the sooner corporations are held accountable for their actions the better

Even though the mainstream media doesn't report on it, there is still coverage. One merely needs the will to look for it.
There's been no real visible face of Occupy since #D17 - there's been #J28 (Oakland), #F29 (Portland, notably), #M17 (NYC), and now #A1 (SF, notable), but the numbers achieved last fall were not met. It's no surprise. Occupy has been in a planning stage - planning for May 1st. On #15O and #N17 we saw ~50,000 people in NYC alone, I think this May Day we can easily beat this. Of course, if it turns out to be a flop (which I doubt), it'll be safe to say the capitalists are a lot smarter than expected. We'd have to seriously change tactics. But we've been doing that, just for May 1st. And, of course, no surprise the corporate MSM - their propaganda arm - wouldn't report on us.

I have a final that day, could they push it back until the week after when I get out of University and have more time to do nothing?

Point is to get as close as it to possible and have some fun.
