yes because we haven't learned a lot about them as is.
and oh really, slaves didn't build these things? then tell me, who exactly? they didn't have any "employment offices" either.
yea we don't seem to know a lot about who built these pyramids
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El_Paraíso,_Peru
poor workers?
slaves that died during construction wouldn't have been buried so close to the pyramids and with supplies for the afterlife
I'm going to be honest, I have phobia of pyramids.
Now leave me alone.
so ye, the precise nature of their social organization remains unclear.. And I guess this is as far as the argument could go?

No I didn't say you should get rid of all pyramids and the great wall of China, but truth to be told, many of these only remind us of human suffering, and nothing else.
Still, I didn't say we should get rid of them all. They are part of our history indeed, and this pyramid's existence is well documented I'm sure. It won't last forever in any case..
There has been human suffering for countless millennia, and unfortunately it's a big part of our history as an entire race. But the suffering all of our ancestors went through in order to achieve what they sought is not without recognition. I have a feeling you're the only one who really thinks about suffering when you see great human achievements. Whether or not slaves were used to build these wonders, they are a benchmark of what we are capable of as a species.

Well, we didn't need masses of slaves and unethical working conditions to build the Comcast headquarters.
I wish this story was "workers try to demolish 4000 year-old temple, get killed by booby-traps inside."
Well, we didn't need masses of slaves and unethical working conditions to build the Comcast headquarters.
Because slavery is unethical and we have construction workers, people paid to erect buildings, who have unions and their own systems to keep themselves afloat and make sure they gain their rightful benefits for the work they do. The Comcast building, although deserving of some merit for having been built, is nothing special compared to any Pyramid, Great Wall, or massive Mausoleum that our ancestors have built. But for our ancestors, the commonplace skyscrapers we have around the world today would most likely be considered a dream come true, as they would see them as towers of glass reaching into the heavens.
Why would you do that?
That's like tearing down the Sistine Chapel to make a supermarket. You just don't fucking do that, no matter what.
we should destroy the company managers houses.
we should destroy the company managers houses.
And build 4000 year old pyramids in their place.
Oh that would have been a cool punishment...

What do you expect, a large part of the userbase here is under 18, I don't expect them to understand jack shit about why preserving history is important
iago are you literally autistic?
im legit curious now.
This sucks, but I think every major historical site is going to come down sooner or later. Just due to the morbidly rapid growth of the human race and the need to expand and replace.
Too soon though, these guys are cunt bags.
iago please never visit my country ok
Great way to lose profit, dumb idiots.

Yes, because we live in a perfect world where nothing bad ever happens. Poor kids, if they ever see something like this it'll ruin their childhood. When they immediately glance at the pyramid they will have visions of people building the pyramids.
I rather have a mall built to aid the economy then some guys circlejerking over bricks built by some dead guys imo

You are seriously the worst and dumbest person I've ever encountered online. Congratulations. That's quite the achievement.
Ignorami?
Is that like the Illuminati but dumb?
I bet they yelled "YOLO" while they did it. Those villains.
I see nothing wrong with this, it's more beneficial in the long run then keeping a bunch of useless junk around just because it's old.
I know i'm going to get ALOT of boxes for this but there's no reason to keep it except imaginary value to it's old history.
Theres also no reason to build some peice of shit suburb or crappy building that will fall apart in 50 years, it's not like they are building CERN 2.0 or something, don't make it out like these pyramids get in the way of ~progress~. Given the choice between some fucking eyesore townhouse vs a 4000 year old pyramid, the pyramid wins every time.
This thread reminds me of my hidden obsession of wanting to dynamite Niagara Falls. Just to see what it'd look like.
Could you imagine this [img_thumb]http://www.placesmustseen.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Niagara-Falls-HD-3D-wallpaper-2012-2013.jpg[/img_thumb] being packed with millions of pounds of TNT or a small nuclear device and being blown to kingdom come?
I mean, I wouldn't want to actually do it, but the mental picture of it...

it's also a tourist attraction. Making money for the country and people, so just because its old doesn't mean it doesn't hold any value.
Maybe Iago secretly works one of those companies.
Blocking is for quitters.
I prefer pretending that he's the Iago from Aladdin, and he doesn't like pyramids abroad because they compete with the city of Agrabah for historical-artifact interested tourists. It takes a bit of the edge off when you read every post in that voce.
Oh god I can't stop doing this haha
