• It was just a matter of time: Fans mourn, opponents cheer Barcelona's last bullfight

Many people oppose bull fighting because of the cruelty. The cruelty weighs more than "culture" in my opinion. This can be compared with gladiator fighting in the roman empire. It's way too cruel, even if it's a part of the culture. I'm amazed that some people find personal entertainment under the guise of culture more important than animal cruelty of this level
Glad to see that this has ended. I'd rather ride a bull around than stab it. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4d/Sixten.jpg[/t]
It is a mixture of making the bull mad enough to fight, draining blood, and hitting specific muscles in order to change the bull's stance. It is barbaric beyond reason.
Ever see a slaughterhouse? They scald animals alive, it's probably way more painful than this, and this is like two bulls.
Finally. Culture is the shittiest excuse for animal cruelty I've ever heard. It's like you're proud to be barbarians. [editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
Ever see a slaughterhouse? They scald animals alive, it's probably way more painful than this, and this is like two bulls.
Slaugtherhouses in western countries have regulations that try to make the death of the animal painless. Captive bolt pistols are used most of the time. Kosher and Halal products are just as barbaric as bullfighting to me, and need to be stopped as well. Though you can have all the regulations in the world and still people will not follow them. Enforcement is an issue. However bullfighting is designed to be cruel and agonizing for the animal. It's not like slaughterhouses are purposely inhumane.

What the fuck? The bull is doomed from the very beginning. If it wasn't lethal and would be just jumping over the bull, or whatever they feel like doing that's not killing or hurting, I'm totally okay with that, but on its current state, it's awful and cruel for the bull.
Ever see a slaughterhouse? Bull fighting is pure entertainment.
Ignoring that that's a terrible arguement to continue such barbarism, slaughterhouses at least serve a purpose. Bull fighting is pure entertainment.
Well entertainment is a purpose. I was pointing out that everyone flips shit when like 300 bulls over the course of history die in sport, yet thousands are killed shittily a day so we can nom on their yummy meat.
Ever see a slaughterhouse? They scald animals alive, it's probably way more painful than this, and this is like two bulls.
Yes, I have. What you describe is illegal and occurs as a result of a lack of enforcement. Thank the Republicans for regularly cutting funding to the USDA. When done correctly, animals, pigs in particular, are scalded AFTER they have died in order to remove fur on the skin. When not done correctly, the animal is still alive and aware of what is going on. This is merely one example of the multitude of fucked up things done to animals that is technically illegal, but not enforced. This segment of animal cruelty has been brought to you by the letters G, O, and P!
Well, I, for one, believe Spain has lost a big piece of national identity.
We have not. We merely lost it in Barcelona. I don't see how it's cruel, as bulls are literally useless apart from being used to inseminate cows.
Well, I, for one, believe Spain has lost a big piece of national identity. Anyway, I sincerely hope those anti-bullfight annoying assholes can STFU now... they've got what they wanted.
Wow, that's terribly stupid. Slowly killing an animal just for fun isn't culture, it's just plain cruelty. I'm really happy of this thing, finally they were forbidden.
We have not. We merely lost it in Barcelona. I don't see how it's cruel, as bulls are literally useless apart from being used to inseminate cows.
So lets stab them repeatedly and piss them off so they can run around and we can stab them again while they die a slow and agonizing death bleeding out while some asshole stabs him some more.
You don't know shit about bullfighting, do you? Two thirds of the fight is stabbing the bull so it looses enough blood to be finished by the matador.
Oh, but I do, I'm Spanish and have watched quite a few. Do you seriously think if the bull would feel it, that it wouldn't thrash around more? They are bred specifically for this.
Well entertainment is a purpose. I was pointing out that everyone flips shit when like 300 bulls over the course of history die in sport, yet thousands are killed shittily a day so we can nom on their yummy meat.
Except one keeps you alive, the other is used for barbaric entertainment.
We have not. We merely lost it in Barcelona. I don't see how it's cruel, as bulls are literally useless apart from being used to inseminate cows.
So I suppose you are a highly productive member of society? No? Oh okay, into the gladiatorial games with you!
I've always kinda wanted to go see bull fighting, even though it's really cruel, the suspense sure is high. But this was inevitable.
Also, humans die from this too. So don't think that it's all safe. People are taking risks to do this.
Oh, but I do, I'm Spanish and have watched quite a few. Do you seriously think if the bull would feel it, that it wouldn't thrash around more? They are bred specifically for this.
Still doesn't make it right.
We have not. We merely lost it in Barcelona. I don't see how it's cruel, as bulls are literally useless apart from being used to inseminate cows.
Bulls are also used to pull heavy loads and the sort.

The entertainment value is what makes people want to keep bullfighting.
So I suppose you are a highly productive member of society? No? Oh okay, into the gladiatorial games with you!
As said, these bulls are bred for this.
Also, humans die from this too. So don't think that it's all safe. People are taking risks to do this.
Compare how many humans die to bulls And even if they're bred for this they shouldn't even have to go through this
Also, humans die from this too. So don't think that it's all safe. People are taking risks to do this.
Even more reason to ban it. [editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
Besides, the cruelty that happens in slaughterhouses is not considered culture. edit: And everyone agrees that slaughterhouse cruelty ban should be enforced.
As said, these bulls are bred for this.
And? You were bred to fight! So what is it gonna be? Retiarius loadout? Or maybe that of the Secutor? I would go with the Secutor on account of the armor plating and all, but the net of retiarii is also quite tempting.
We have not. We merely lost it in Barcelona. I don't see how it's cruel, as bulls are literally useless apart from being used to inseminate cows.
Wow.. "they are useless so let's torture them"... Seriously?
Hijos de puta!
Glad to see this gone, now to get it banned completely. I doubt you'd be allowed to slowly kill any other animal by torture there, so why bulls?
Why don't they ban killing cattle at the slaughterhouse while they are at.
Why don't they ban killing cattle at the slaughterhouse while they are at.
Except we need food, we don't need to torture animals
Don't worry guys there's still bullfights in Barcelona
