"How long I've been sleeping?"
"6 months"

Sounds a bit like the mental note The Hacker left himself on Citadel Station while he was sleeping off his implant surgery :v:
Fucking yes!
If you didn't watch formula 1 and see Michael drive his Red ferrari formula car,
you just didn't have a proper childhood...
This is awesome to hear, after this long I was kind of worried that he would end up like Chi Cheng. Still a long road to recovery but I am hoping for the best.

more like
"How have have I been sleeping?"
"You've been in a coma for 2 years and your parents never thought you'd get out of it so you were cyrogenically frozen to preserve your body. It's the year 2162."
"WHAT"
So he finally won the race to get out of coma. Now to the Grand Prix of rehabilitation
I'm afraid his lap-time was slower than Richard Hammond.

And right now Germany shot its 4th goal in the match against Portugal
this is why i never want anyone to pull the plug if i go into a coma

After a few years your brain would basically have turned into sponge. Unless you show signs of betterment, there's really no reason to keep going.
It'd be a wonder if he'd recover so far that he can function independently again. He's been in a coma for 5 months. I don't think there's a precedent for getting out of such a coma without serious brain damage.
In the medical field there's a huge gray area between a coma and being wide awake like we are. There's a good chance he's forever stuck somewhere in that gray area.
What happened to him exactly?
How long has he been out?
Since 29th of December last year.

Welcome, TO THE WORLD OF TOMORROW!
What happened to him exactly?
Skiing accident. He sustained TBI and has been in a medically-induced coma for nearly six months.
As for his recovery, I'd encourage anyone interested to read over this particular blog post, as well as the others concerning TBI / Schumacher.

That blog post says the same thing I thought, that saying someone isn't in a coma anymore really isn't saying anything. I mean, okay he isn't in a coma and that means...
It's a way of pretending to be informative while hiding the truth.
anyone have any sources of his physical and mental condition?
I seem to remember replying to a previous thread about months ago, saying that even if there's only a tiny bit of hope there's still hope. I'm glad I proved the pessimists wrong, and not for my sake. All the best to Michael Schumacher and family.
Modern medicine, how I love thee.
Not really modern medicine to be honest, its just old fashioned rest and recuperation. Its just what the brain needs in this sort of situation.
Any clue what his current state is? Can he talk?
After so long, i dont think so.
Man I didn't expect to hear this but I am damn glad I did!
I read "coma" as "mana" and was really confused for a second.

depends on the extent of the damage; plus we still have a lot to learn about dealing with CNS injuries
also on the quality of healthcare that is available to you (and that's gonna depend on how much money you have, because even in countries with free healthcare for everyone you can still get better care in private clinics if you have the money)

Sure, we'll probably get better at dealing with that stuff, but after a year in a vegetative state (though as I understand it he's in a minimally conscious state, with somewhat better odds) your chances of survival are basically zero. After a half year they're still very insignificant. And this is just "not-dead", which means they still might never even kinda resemble the person they were before.
(though I'm not a doctor)

if i still have a pulse then i don't give a fuck how long i've been in a coma, it's still better than death

Your brain turns into mush, your limbs deteriorate. You basically become a vegetable.
One of the reasons why a lot of the slaves shipped to America ended up being useless was because they were immobilized for so long, their limbs simple deteriorated and died.
But I guess being a vegetable would be fun.

coma is different from vegetative state; coma lacks any awareness while in persistent vegetative state there is diminished awareness
brains are complicated as hell as are the various injuries a brain can receive, and there's way more to brain injuries than "your brain turns into mush".
i'd recommend having a look at this http://www.coma.ulg.ac.be/papers/vs/PVS_MCS_LIS_LancetN04.pdf
what if michael woke up and thought he was ralf
