I love how that's a quasi-remake of Supreme Commander's original trailer. I love this trailer so much. It's such a great trailer that really sells the scale of Supreme Commander. I think the FA played better overall, but I liked the music of the first game a lot more.

Hell yea, the Soundtrack is fucking awesome, Jeremy Soule did another excellent job with it:

Although Forged Alliance added some good tracks too:

I could write an essay about all the things that make Supcom amazing.
i will look into that as everyone is recommending it over this game
I've tried to defend PA, but fact of the matter is ultimately... I'm disappointed. There are still several features that aren't even discussed anymore and considering they all seem to want to jump ship anyway its like... why bother.
Yeah, SupCom is better in every way. And honestly I'd go back to it time and time again if I had the time to dedicate to it.

I always loved how the unit transports had the units physically coupled to the bottom in a way that some could even shoot from it as it flew. The attention to detail this game had was amazing.
Another mess-up by Uber Entertainment. It´s a shame, they´re pretty stellar developers. But how they handle their IPs is absolutely fucked.

Honestly its what happens when you let engineers run a business. Business men run businesses, its what they're trained for, engineers make it function.
I feel old. I've resumed playing Supreme Commander habitually from like a week ago and it came out in 2006.
Also, this was pretty fucking amazing too.
3rd Time is not a charm it seems.
supreme co 2 is better
supreme co 2 is better
Its your opinion but i disagree with your opinion strongly. Supreme Commander is all about large sandbox style environments, the scale of having a massive battlefield and Sup Com 2 ruined that by having much smaller maps which removed one of the unique features of Sup Com.
To put it simply, they dumbed down Sup Com 2 to a level where it is a very average RTS, removing all the fun that Sup Com offered.
Also the AI of Sup Com was actually very intelligent, if they were on the brink of being defeated they would build additional bases on other islands just like a human would do or change tactics when the same tactic keeps failing, Sup Com 2 had a very simple AI that was easy to exploit.
supreme co 2 is better
Supcom2 was good, but it was not supreme commander.
Also fuck the chipheads in SC2. Their experimentals are the the most annoying and infuriating out of all of them.
Between the tower that eats shit and the turret that gives nukes a non-refusable "return to sender" stamp, they're insanely annoying to play against.
supreme co 2 is better
Yea no, They stripped out everything that made Supreme Commander unique. Primarily the economy system and the scale. The upgrade system is stupid too.
Played a couple of games last night with friends.
It's not awful.
UI sucks balls, and some of the design decisions were a bit weird.
For an RTS that takes place on multiple planes (orbital and ground) there should be an easy way to select only one or the other. But when you've got orbital stuff hovering above ground stuff, you end up having to do weird janky camera stuff in order to select what you want.
Also a game that focusses heavily on resource management but has no SupCom-style way to easily see what is using how much of each flavour of juice?
That said though, once you get the hang of it, it can be pretty fun.

there are buttons on the lower left that let you select various unit types in view
PA really needs a better tutorial
so, played PA, but people are saying it's bad, so what's the best RTS for PC that's simple enough for someone like me (who never plays RTS') but still indepth enough to not get boring after an hour
I suck dick at RTS's but hey a free game is free.

Are you okay with older RTS games? Because I'll always recommend any of the Command & Conquer games. They fit the bill for what you're asking. The older ones are free, so there's no harm in at least trying them out.
