Excuse my ignorance here, but is it possible for an earthquake to cause another nearby fault to slip?
Can you quit bitching about wich was worse? This is bad and it's no fucking better if the 2004 one was worse
"Up to 32 people killed" That's the reported ones. Its probably up to hundreds, well lets hope not thousands.
I'm going to the beach tomorrow to take pictures (if the tsunamis even hit that is) I hear it's around 7:30AM, is that correct?
Yep.
Anyone have news on Taiwan? I have relatives there.
Can you quit bitching about wich was worse? This is bad and it's no fucking better if the 2004 one was worse
3 posts over two pages doesn't really count as bitching.
Russia, Australia and New Zealand apparently no longer under tsunami warning
Those people are completely unprepared on the roads :smith:
Because Australia has no worries, mate.
woah the water is just swallowing everything
Excuse my ignorance here, but is it possible for an earthquake to cause another nearby fault to slip?
yes. If its powerful enough it can make a chain reaction but the reaction will hopefully get smaller as it goes.
evacuations have begun here in hawaii, several of my friends are being evacuated
Columbia River on the Oregon side to Point Conception California under Tsunami Warning, to be specific. Tsunami Warnings just reported for the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
snip
The worst scene was when it engulfed the whole airport.
Does anyone have news about if Tokyo is affected? [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/eGqRw.png[/img_thumb]
He probably used Metal Gear Ray or REX to evacuate himself.
My local news is now talking to some guy in Okinawa on Skype. "Calm water, nothing exciting...Evacuating lower areas of the Island." Edit:  the guys name is Chris Hanson.
Fuck that. Vancouver is next and we'll take Seattle with us.
At least we've got a nice big tsunami shield what with Vancouver Island blocking any wave's paths.
god, we are in the phillipines! its located in the ring of fire... please let them be okay... lets pray for them...
Google.com has an alert on the bottom of the screen now too.
Tsunami Alert for New Zealand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Hawaii, and others. Waves expected over the next few hours, caused by 8.9 earthquake in Japan.
Godzilla made the earthquake...
Look at the positive site, hopefully this tsunami also wiped out all their anime studios. (User was permabanned for this post ("Troll/Ban Evasion Alt" - daijitsu))
goddamn you.
The Tsunami is expected to hit Hawaii in about half an hour to an hour from now.
Holy fuck this is horrible.
Some of that helicopter footage on Al Jazeera looks like it's from some high budget hollywood disaster movie
The original godzilla was actually about dealing with the first atomic bomb and its following radiation. This inadvertently spawned a series of kiddish movies and shows of people in giant rubber costumes punching at moths hanging on strings, a cartoon, and more recently a giant iguana wrecking new york for no reason
thanks buzz killington
slowly, 2012 is taking place.... oh god, why so early.... its dreadful and depressing... thinking we are going to get hit in the coming hours.... i am expecting loss of electricity and communication shortly ....
where you at, I need a report on Nagasaki [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] How bout Cali
Sorry for being late, I'm in Fukuoka. Nagasaki is likely going to be just fine, since it's actually further away from the quake than I am. The tsunamis could have possibly hit it, but if they did I think everyone is fine, no reports of massive damage from really anywhere but Sendai.
Holy fuck, i just woke up and found this. This is bad.
Fuck, a friend of mine is in Tokio right now.
