Was Hawaii ever hit? The livestream went on for ages about how bad it could be
Tiny waves were tiny. I believe.
Tiny waves were tiny. I believe.
I wouldn't say the waves were tiny, but nothing bad happened.
This is awful. I have seen the Sky News report. It aint pretty. I feel sorry for the people who are suffering here.
My uncle lives in Tokyo. I was quite worried, but I just got word that he's safe in an evacuation center. Looks like they're hunkering down in the gym.
My uncle is an English teacher in Japan also.
Duuuude, surf's up brewski! [editline]12th March 2011[/editline] *waves bigger than expected, 100s of potential new candidates for darwin awards*
trust me people have surfed larger than 8ft+
Tiny waves were tiny. I believe.
It's not the size that matters really. These waves are moving at around 500 miles per hour. If you're on or below sea level that could flood and kill a lot of people. Though they do slow down considerably as they near the coast and start to break.
This guy predicted the earthquake two days before it happened.
I downloaded that program he used on that video, and found this. Holy shit I was sleeping through all of this, my dad woke me up at around 4 AM to tell me about it though. From what I understand Tokyo suffered from massive tsunamis, Hawaii got hit a little bit and the west coast of US is supposed to be hit a tiny bit too? Anything I'm missing?
has anybody here been hit by this that miraculously still has internet
So, I managed to get some info, I thought it was much, much worse. Also, the NPPs problems seem a bit exaggereted to me - these types of building really have many, many measures to prevent any accident.
So is everyone in Hawaii ok? :unsmith:
So is everyone in Hawaii ok? :unsmith:
Pretty much (so far!)
Pretty much (so far!)
Glad to hear it! :buddy: Stay calm west coast

Damn that sucks so bad for Japan. Poor guys :(
1708: Nuclear physicist Dr Walt Patterson tells the BBC it sounds like there is a "serious problem" at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant. "It's the sort of thing that nuclear engineers have nightmares about," he says. "If it is not resolved in the next few hours it will get serious. If the core is uncovered, then those rods at the top may get hot enough to melt themselves." D:

And now I'm hearing it's "the end of the world" from my mother and all her church going friends.
And now I'm hearing it's "the end of the world" from my mother and all her church going friends.
I feel your pain. I'm hearing "2012 is nearing" from my father.
Good thing In case of a tsunami one can always hide in the basement. Wait...
I'm glad I'm not living on continental plates seam point. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
I hope everyone is okay. :frown:
Rated optimistic.
Japan: Home of the worst natural disasters imaginable since the dawn of humanity. On the coast you get the tsunamis and quakes. Inland you get quakes and volcanoes. You are fucked ANYWHERE.

I'm glad my country stopped being tectonically active hundreds of thousands of years ago.
I feel your pain. I'm hearing "2012 is nearing" from my father.
I dunno about 2012, but the prospect of another Chernobyl is freaking me the fuck out. I just hope they're telling the truth when they say no radiation was released.
