What's the status on that Nuclear reactor?
When I see news like this; It just reminds me of that this can happen where I live(Minus the Tsunamis) too. We live right on top of the New Madrid Fault Zone(Southeastern Missouri, Southern Illinois, Arkansas, Far Western Kentucky, and Tennesse.) Last time(1811-12) it went off it changed the course of the Mississippi River, turned a swamp into a lake, and sunk part of a town. But it is not well known because at the time; this area had hardly anybody living in it. But it is still a scary thing to think about, but it wouldn't be to the scale like this. Luckily Japan had been planning for this moment for years and were very well prepared. I have been trying to keep track of this all day; but I am school and most websites are blocked(And Strangely Facepunch isn't) and most videos don't work.
The Cascadia Subduction zone is off the coast from where I live. If it cracked off it would be pretty much just like what just happened in Japan.
What's the status on that Nuclear reactor?
Looks like radiation is at 1000x more than normal. http://english.kyodonews.jp/news/2011/03/76948.html
SOURCE OF EARTHQUAKE/TSUNAMI [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/IsRiO.jpg[/img_thumb] Or was it... [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/m5MZr.png[/img_thumb]
Go take you and your dumb jokes back to Facebook
[img_thumb]http://inapcache.boston.com/universal/site_graphics/blogs/bigpicture/quake1/bp36.jpg[/img_thumb] WOW
May already have been said but I reckon the road was probably a single lane, one way road for a long time and then they decided to stick a second lane in at a later date. The compacted earth below the road, and the tarmac of the road itself wouldn't actually be full, continuous surfaces and would actually be separate surfaces meeting at their edges and would hence probably be a lot more likely to sheer along that line than anywhere else. Well, that's just my theory.
Yea I was watching citizentube, that huge fireball that erupted out of what appears to be the nuclear power plant was pretty crazy. One of the vids has better sound and theres like a half minute delay and then you hear the explosion and see stuff shaking.
It was a natural gas explosion at a refinery. They've pretty much confirmed that the plant is going to go critical some time soon.
I saw the news footage and was waiting for Godzilla to rise out of the water.
I'm not surprised that most of the people from facebook that are saying it was payback for pearl harbour are american.
A comment like this is just as ignorant.
I'm not surprised that most of the people from facebook that are saying it was payback for pearl harbour are american.
it's a disgrace to realize that people like that exist here. I'm sorry to the rest of the world that has to see the ignorance of a couple of redneck, tea party loyalist, dickwads.
Not really no.
You're generalizing Americans based on the actions of a minority. That is ignorant.

There are probably people trapped underneath the ruins of their own houses right now. :ohdear:
They've pretty much confirmed that the plant is going to go critical some time soon.
I really hope for the sake of everyone over there that it doesn't go critical. Shit will be really bad.

Seriously, this is a horrific tragedy
oh dear what will happen to japanese seafood exports and my sushi. >:(
Well if the radiation does spread to the West Coast I'm dead, great.
You will get evacuated so if you get news of it heading toward you then gather your stuff together or else you will have to leave everything behind.
This ain't good not even slightly well maybe since eathquake systems that can handle higher magnitueds might be implimented afterwards to prevent this from happening again but stilll.
0:13 My heart sank. Seriously, this is a horrific tragedy
what theres noone in the car its random stuff flopping around but yea
what theres noone in the car its random stuff flopping around but yea
That's what I thought at first, but why was it at the top of the car and not somewhere on the relative ground? Unless it was floating on water or something.
