How about historic wealth inequality? How about both political parties being highly (and visibly) corrupt?
Both candidates will fuck us in the end, just the person fucking us will wear a different color of jersey. So no, we don't "win" regardless of who we vote for. That's why we need to vote third party so that we can win, instead of accepting an automatic defeat because we're scared of a slightly worse defeat instead.
Under that logic you will only ever vote third party when they become the first party. Such stellar logic there. You know how a third party becomes viable? People actually voting. Your defeatist attitude ensures that you'll get nothing but fucked by the two highly corrupt political institutions. By voting for said corrupt political institutions not only do you not help change the political landscape but actively work against it.
Third Parties only become viable if there is a schism in the current two parties. You're going to see a third party gain enough votes on its own to become relevant.

But there is, I don't know if you noticed but two of the candidates running and doing quite well are both anti-establishment.
So yeah, I definitely think there is a schism.

My prediction:
Establishment candidates from both parties will join forces. Anti establishment people from both parties will join forces. Creating new parties.

Except neither will actually break away or hurt their parties, they've both said as much. Especially Sanders'.

Never going to happen in a million years.

We'll see, remember Sanders is an independent and he's been screwed over recently from the blatant DNC corruption.

Sander's isn't as anti-establishment as you seem to think, he isn't going to hurt the chances of the democratic party winning because he lost the nomination, he's been allied with them far to long, and used them to win his Vermont senatorial seat.

He won the democratic primary and then ran independent.

Never said he ran as a democratic, but even you admit there he relies on the democratic party.

This "the parties are the same/just as bad" stuff is old. They've only been getting more divided as time has gone on. It might feel like they're too similar if neither of them really reflect your views, but please take the time to actually consider the differences between the two and what's really at stake here instead of carelessly lumping both together because they're both corrupt and that's all you can see.

I've already explained how voting for a small party doesn't make it viable. A party would become viable when it runs a successful campaign. They can't build momentum off of people who voted for them last time, they need to make a major impression on the campaign trail and would most likely only be able to if something strange happens to one or both of the current dominant parties.

And I sorta take issue with being called "defeatist" here. I'm just trying to recognize what I can realistically expect to happen when I cast my vote and not waste it on a one-in-a-billion chance that everyone at the polls just near-unanimously, suddenly, and independently decides "Yeah, that's enough two-party system for now."
If that's all it takes to call me defeatist, then I'm also defeatist for not spending all of my money on lotto tickets.
The election is going to be between Trump and Hillary, face it. Hillary has blood on her hands and a very shady record, while Trump is xenophobic and racist.

...Because you say so, of course.

I'm saying he's talking as if things are the way he says they are just because he says so.
