They can drop the PC bullshit though.
Not everyone goes into post-secondary to 'expand their horizons'. Most students are there because they're told having a degree --> 40,000/year salary. They're there to get a living wage. Certainly why I'd be in post-secondary, but then again I'm going to attend a specialized tech school if I do go so it's a moot point anyway. Not much room for a diversity program in a school that teaches nothing but how to fix cars.
Like I said, I don't agree with everything they do, but I acknowledge they do a lot of good for people.
As for the resettling, my family's moving out to NC later this year, and I'll be wrapping up college next year, so I'll probably end up in a magazine hub like New York or LA. I like what this town's becoming, but I can't wait to get out of the state for a while.
It's hilarious how petty all this is, from all sides and fronts. A bunch of kids being stupid, followed by more stupidity from the knee jerk reaction of other kids, followed by more stupidity from the university itself
Wait how is a GSA being stupid?
what
That might be the case in Norway, wouldn't surpise me. The "left" is pretty extreme in Scandinavian countries.
I kinda want to add this "Kyle Palmer" guy on FB so I can jump in and help this level-headed Abbie Faxon girl out.

Im pretty sure it's the right wing nuts that consistently voted down every funding bill for my school district until they had nearly cut everything but football, then miraculously they passed the levy they needed,
This was after the school had to basically force another spending bill to get kids out of a 100 year old asbestos lined building that was condemned the next year.
But by god we had a great football stadium

Oh Norwegian, so left is right...

Sounds like a whole lot of districts in NE Ohio.

Ohio schools in general, they're so fucking unequal, I go to college where pretty much everyone from Columbus had access to tons of interesting classes and has at least a dozen ap credits, my school had exactly 2 ap classes and the engineering class was taught by a professor that couldn't be trusted anywhere near the chemistry supply closet...which is to say the chemistry teacher.
We seriously had a chemistry teacher that either put himself in the hospital or set fire to the classroom down every year and a physics teacher that wasn't even qualified to teach middle school level classes.

Yeah I was pretty lucky at my HS up there but there were plenty of terrible ones.

Protip: Don't come to the West Coast. We're overburdened as it is. Washington is to expensive to live in. Nevada is fucking garbo. My home state California is having a huge jobs crisis, plus the drought and an incompetent state government. Oregon is...... well it's Oregon. Nothing happens there.

Facebook is full of idiots like Justin Wiseman, dude. If you live in the Bible Belt, odds are good you'll have your fair share of them added somewhere on there too.
Or maybe you'll be the odd man out and not really fit in anywhere. I had that problem when I was younger because I lived in a backwards rural community. Cities make everything better back here honestly. They're our bastions of civilization and progressivism.

Portland is pretty nice.

It's nice but it's expensive and full of hipsters.
The diversity office exists to provide scholarships for high-achieving minority students that otherwise wouldn't be able to attend the university, invites guest lecturers to speak on issues of racism, gender, sexuality, and the like, and advocates for a welcoming and inclusive campus environment. I may not agree with everything they do, but they provide very valuable services for a lot of people, and they've made the university a better place.
Personally, I believe a university is a place to be presented with opinions, views, and ideas that you don't grow up around. A diversity program is crucial to that concept. You attend to expand your horizons, not get job training.
What about high-achieving non-minority students that wouldn't be able to attend university, either?
I don't like the idea of minority scholarships, for groups of people trying to push equality they sure do like to focus on specific races, when the whole point of equality is giving -everyone- an equal chance.
Could you please point out the line in the Constitution that grants you your right to not be offended
Oh there isn't one. USA really needs to harden the fuck up, to quote the Chopper Reid skits

Matthew 5.17, found in the New Testament.
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."
That's Jesus very explicitly saying not to ignore the rules found in the old testament
