It's these stories that drive me insane at night. I cannot think of a worse hell for this man. Somebody please fucking kill him.
Assisted suicide is one thing, but I don't think anyone wants to do it by drowning.
Seriously, drowning is fucking horrible. Might as well have his end be painless, quick and peaceful.
Actually, drowning is one of the least painful methods of committing suicide
honestly dude, shut up
worst thread possible for shitty jokes
because it's a serious thread everything I say must be serious because these events totally effect any of you in any measurable way whatsoever
Yes, what is happening is horrible, but people overreact too much to less than serious content in "SPR SRS THREDS"
He should just hire someone to kill him who doesn't give a fuck. There are enough people on the planet who don't even care whether murder is a crime, let alone assisted suicide.
What the fuck? It should be someones choice if they want to end their life. There shouldn't even have to be a court case.
I'm amazed FP agree'd this. The attitude of most retards on here is the exact opposite.
There's a place in Switzerland that helps people to die. If this guy can afford it I guess it's worth looking into.
It's illegal to commit suicide. Strange though, how do they punish someone who succeeds?
It's not illegal in a traditional sense. There aren't any criminal penalties other than being forced to receive the help you need.
Hm, this is one of the few times when someone deserves to die. Where are the professional murderers when you need them?
Or what if he placed a hit on himself?
this may be odd and insane, but would it be charity to hire a hit-men to take his life?
I don't think you guys realise how many problems allowing assisted suicide could possibly cause, you never know when someone might use a loophole to legally murder someone.
this isn't how the law works.
judges interpret the law
if someone murders someone and attempts to use assisted suicide as a loophole, the police will arrest them, the jury will convict them, the judge will charge them with murder, they aren't going to look at the 'big book of law', see the loophole and just let him go free.
this subject is filled with slippery slope fallacies when trying to say why we shouldn't have it legal.
Sorry for the bump, but he died this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19341722
Sorry to hear about the guy dying. I hope his case lives on as he deserves a legacy in his cause. Why did the state think it owned this man and others in a similar situation?
I mean at a basic level, the guy was never going to be a "worker"/wage slave again, so why do they care so much?
I hate our judiciary at times
At least it's consistent. Mostly.
The problem was trying to get the law changed. That'll never happen unless the death penalty comes back.
Due to the sensitive nature it should be done on a case-by-case basis to regulate this. I think he may have tried, that to no success.
Someone in my family took suicide because they were afraid the doctors wouldn't allow them to later on. It's pretty sad really...
