CC, mind making an educated and well-informed post without hiding behind hyperboles and analogies? Get rid of those and all you've said so far is "EA sucks and is evil because <dramatized hyperbole>"

the snake is EA and Adam and Eve are the devs!!!
-snip, jeez-
Except you wouldn't, because a) you probably don't have the skills to work there, b) in these times you simply can't afford turning down a "well-paying job".
The library is small compared to Steam, they make new releases origin exclusive to try to force people to use it, auto-update seems to baffle them, battlelog and origin seem to have issues getting along despite being made to work together, etc.
[editline]2nd October 2012[/editline]
Oh and the way they insult steam over summer sales then have a steam-style sale of their own.
Steam has been around a lot longer than Origin, Valve also forced steam down peoples throats when they released HL2.
Not saying Origin is some god, but it's not terrible.
That Brown guy is an asshole. Props to the devs for voicing what everyone's thinking.
Just from the way Lanning responded to EA, I'm kind of leaning toward him making it up. I think he just wanted an excuse to bash on EA's business model and to throw some harsh publicity their way. I am not going to say that EA handled it well because obviously they just insulted people with conditions that aren't their fault. Lowbrow on both sides here, kind of pathetic of both of them.
Wrong.
Lanning isn't making it up, any of it.
I've been a big fan of Oddworld, and Lorne Lanning himself, for years. He's the voice of Oddworld in every sense, not just as a spokesperson but as the voice of many characters including Abe and Stranger. Hearing him say this has made my day.
Wrong.

Source? EA said they didn't even offer to buy.
because EA is totally a sinking ship
Devil's advocate, but how do you know for sure?
Ok this puts EA on top of my most despised video game publishers...
Only EA games I play is FIFA, the occasional Battlefield and SSX (but they wont even support that)
Even then, the tech support for all there games is absolute shite. FIFA servers up and down like a yo-yo day in and day out...
Not really, it's place for your games, you download and play. I haven't had any issues with it. You plainly just download the game you bought and play.
I've had nothing but issues with Origin so far.
I finally put up with it so I could buy Bf3 when it was on sale. It spent 4 hours downloading the first half of the game, then the download got corrupted and I had to do the entire thing over again. Capped out at a stunning 223 kb/s download speed and finally finished the download after a total of 12 hours.
im wondering if dice has any future plans of seperating from ea, but i honestly doubt it
the only ea game i pretty much still play is fifa
Devil's advocate, but how do you know for sure?
Because Lanning posted an interview about it in Gamer's Republic quite a while ago.
Really EA? You've resorted to making fun of mental disabilities now? If people needed another reason not to like EA they sure do now.
this is unacceptebable im throing all my ea games in the trash as we speak
And about battlefield, another tripping point for you it seems, I think it sucks. you like it and that's cool but I don't, I think it's samey and crappy and we need less boring shooters on the market, no doubt EA will keep their dev-slaves churning them out till they stop selling though.
"I don't like it that must mean it's a shitty game and not popular or selling well!"
What the fuck are you even saying.
As much as I'd love to stay and read the text you make when you smash your helmet on your droolsoaked keyboard I have more important shit to do than argue with a guy with ten thousand something posts on this forum, things like masturbation and sleep.
So I guess you're the ~winner~
"I don't know how to respond to that, I'm looking weak. Guess the only way out of this is to insult the opposing person! Yea, I'll look like a bigger man if I do that!"
Pretty ironic, you're getting mad at EA for doing stupid shit and you can't stop yourself. You're doing exactly what EA did in this very thread, pretty ironic, eh?
RIP Westwood

It's sad that I have to say this in every EA thread
A single EA employee, be it the CEO or a random tech support agent does not represent the entirety of EA.
Is Valve a bunch of assholes because Chet once mentioned that he would VAC ban people who edited some VPK files in L4D2?

the ceo does represent the entirety of ea because that is his job
because EA is totally a sinking ship
They are a sinking ship in the same respect that Apple and Activision are. They cannot maintain their bad business practices and expect to last. Sure, they are currently doing quite well for themselves at the moment, but eventually people will get fed up of it and that is when these companies will realise that they now no longer have a market for their products.
I remember playing Oddworld or so when I was younger, that was the shit.
First they're remaking the game and they told EA to fuck off?
I love devs like this.

right because those 3 companies have shown such drastic declines

Have you looked at Apple's stocks since 2007? How about their earnings? It's the complete opposite of a sinking ship. Regardless of how much somebody hates them, that's an absolutely ridiculous idea.

Yeah man. Look how much of an affect their bad business practices have had on the sales of FIFA and BF3.

Someone hired to represent a company doesn't actually represent the company? A world gone mad, I say.

Activision stock worth

Apple Stock worth

I don't think either are "sinking ships." Both companies have an incredibly large base of customers, that unless they really did something to fuck them over (and it would have to be pretty big, especially with these companies), they aren't going to die even remotely soon.
I bought Fifa Manager 11, an EA title.. and it was unplayably broken because it crashed every hour or so and the saved games could not proceed any further without triggering crashes, making any chance at playing the game for a worthwhile amount of time and progressing virtually impossible.
After hours of googling and discovering tens of thousands of people with the same problems, no reply from EA about why it was happening or if it'd even be fixed, the conclusion was that it was entirely fucked and that EA didn't care, nor had any intention of ever fixing it.
Waste of £40? Absolutely yes. The game was amazing whilst it was working but the crashing was rage inducing.
So yeah EA, fix your buggy games, and I might start buying them again. Until then, suck my lefty.
INTRODUCING DEFINITELY-NOT-REUSED and TOTALLY OVER-HYPED CONTENT, EA IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE CALL OF ODDFIELD: 2
GUARANTEE'D TO COST YOU $5,000 TO PLAY 75% OF THE ORIGINAL GAMES CONTENT AS DAY ONE DLC! PREORDER NOW!
And then people didn't learn their lesson and bought the game, said it was terrible, and that they would never buy another EA game again. Then, they buy Plants VS Zombies 2: SHooter edition, and do the same thing all over again
dude
im pretty sure "EA" isn't spelt "activision"
Can you imagine how Oddword would have been if EA ran it?

"Hello."
"Hello."
"Give me your money for my shitty games."
"Okay."

Yeah, I know facepunch hates Apple and all that jazz, but honestly.
Apple sinking? Not in a long time.
