The reason I would support it being banned is its actually trying to hurt people (through either the therapies themselves or neglect of medical attention).
I think the whole idea behind it is fucking dumb, like cures like. What's that mate? You've contracted Malaria? HERE HAVE SOME MORE, THIS WILL WORK, 100% NOT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT MAN, YOU'LL BE GOLDEN IN DAYS.
Well that is a similar idea to vaccinations. Not that homoeopathy isn't fucking retarded.
Vaccines generally work by exposing you to a weaker, or inactive form of a disease, allowing your body to develop functioning antibodies to attack functionally useless bacteria/viruses/whatever. Homeopathy is putting a fully active mL of virus/bacteria/whatever in a body of water the size of the solar system and then giving you a shot so small that there's a very real chance you won't get any of the disease to begin with. If you do, it's still fully active, and just as dangerous. They are nothing alike. The virility of a disease isn't reduced just by getting 2 cells instead of 2 million.
Couldn't you just sue homepathy to the ground because they are using false advertising?
Couldn't you just sue homepathy to the ground because they are using false advertising?
They're careful to tiptoe the line of what they can and can't claim about their products.
coldreading is amazing, isn't it
Well that is a similar idea to vaccinations. Not that homoeopathy isn't fucking retarded.
Not exactly, most vaccines are essentially stripped out forms of the bacteria/virus so your body gets used to dealing with materials with similar binding proteins.
Vaccines aren't water though.
Funny thing with homeopathy advocates is that they believe the bullshit that their water (which is highly unlikely to contain even a single atom of the reactant) is going to remember the stuff they put into it, but forgets the shitton of sewage it's been exposed to at one point or another. :v:

Wait. That just makes it stronger! OH GOD EVERYTHING IS SHIT!
"Scientists are very closed-minded," she said.
Fuck off.
I would just go to a person who "talks to the dead" and tell them to talk about my parents. Extra funkyness if my parents would walk in while that person is talking. Like if it is in a church or outside or something like that. "Hey son, what are you doing here?" "Ehh, he/she is talking me about dead people." "So, who is she/he talking about?" "You. She believed that you are dead."
One time, I told my friend I was psychic, and told him to count to 3 with me and say what he's thinking. We said tacos simultaneously. Therefore, I am psychic. (Still don't know how I did that so maybe my powers are just developing)/sarcasm
I thought it was common sense that there is no such thing as a Psychic
"Scientists are very closed-minded," she said. She's confusing open mindedness with exploiting gullible people. brokemyautomerge
I thought it was common sense that there is no such thing as a Psychic
You'd be surprised. The thing is I don't even think most people believe in psychics, I think most people who go to them are just your average person who in a fit of desperation are driven to do dumb shit so they can try and talk to their loved ones. It's just people in a shit situation being preyed upon, it's essentially emotional date rape in my eyes.
I wish homeopathy was outlawed (Along with other alternative medicines) from being practiced on the basis it does not give medical aid.
"But I had the flu a while back and it cleared up 3 days after my homeopathy treatment"
"But I had the flu a while back and it cleared up 3 days after my homeopathy treatment"
I can't remember who it was, but there was a guy who had cancer and had chemotherapy, which made him feel terrible but was curing his cancer. He stopped having that and started drinking alcohol and his cancer cleared up from the chemo but he believed it to be from the booze.
This and Derren Brown depress me.
This and Derren Brown depress me.
Did you watch the apocalypse thing? So bad.
Did you watch the apocalypse thing? So bad.
Aww, his stuffs usually a good laugh, what was so bad about his new one?
The water is clear.
Aww, his stuffs usually a good laugh, what was so bad about his new one?
I don't like him so I'm biased, but it seemed so fake and I can't help but think it will end up being a trick on the audience with him saying something like "I can get you to watch anything".

Deities, paranormal activity, psychics. Why do people still believe in this shit?
I sense someone who knows someone with a name beginning with a "D" in this thread. Is there anyone who knows someone with a the letter D? We might as well start giving people with tumors some Placebo... [editline]1st November 2012[/editline]
Deities, paranormal activity, psychics. On the topic of proving the existence of paranormal activity ,its impossible. Anything can be faked these days so ,even if you caught the real deal on tape it will be thrown away. Critics would say its just another hoax ,even if it could actually be the real deal. I dont think its possible to prove scientificly for this simple reason. There`s no definite proof that can persuade everyone. Noone believes anything until they experience it for themselves. Im about 50/50 myself. I just dont think we know EVERYTHING about everything yet. Psychics and homeopaths are frauds though. That`s a fact that has been proven again and again.

Just like monster hunter shows. if you PURPOSELY try and scan audio for SLIGHT signs of language, you'll find it, almost every time. if anything, if ghosts are real, it's like ghost hunter shows try to DISPROVE them. :v:
Ghost hunter shows IMHO are all complete bullshit if you PURPOSELY try and scan audio for SLIGHT signs of language, you'll find it, almost every time.
Its a show. Im talking about thousands of reports of activity. There an insane amount of people that say they have experienced stuff that cant be explained. Im willing to believe that most of them are not lying. If its halluciantions or other tricks of the mind ,noone knows. Talking about ghost hunters. What if everything they have caught is real? Im not saying it is ,its propably not. Its a show just like ghost adventures ,entertainment. My point is: How could anyone prove anything to anyone if everything can be faked?
