McDonald’s replace humans with swipe cards and touch screens

The only time I will ever visit McDonalds is if they replace their 'food' with something edible.
In america we already have these types of machines at markets and other goods stores. They work fine and only require one person to supervise 8-12 automated checkout lanes. This is a similar concept and I imagine will work just as flawlessly.
I always prefer self-Checkout it is faster and saves the store money on payroll which saves me money on goods.
i like it because its easier to steal food with
ima taking your jobs, programmin my programz!
Why are people going, "hurr hurr i'll order a shit ton of food for the fun of it" when it's going to charge you off your card for it all before you get it anyway?
Dammit, soon I won’t be able to respond to the tarty pieces they hire as cashiers requests of "eating in or taking away" by looking down, then looking up with a shit eating grin and responding with...
Eating Out.
Then spoil the moment by ordering the boneless box for one…
This is only going to substitute the cashiers, the cooks will still have their job.
I know, I am just saying this is not going to improve speed time.
Oh wow, how am i going to find a job now?
Hasn't this been in use for a while? I was in France at the start of the year and they had touch screen/swipe card ordering terminals at every McDonald's I saw.
Haha whoa, that sure is nifty technology-wise and shit but they put a lot of ppl out of jobs.. That's not good, I'm pretty sure the McDonald's franchise has a lot of money anyway.
And the touch screens might get sticky with all the greasy fingers and mayonnaise

Just because you work there :v:
When I went to McDonalds the cashier didn't appear to know the difference between a 'Double Sausage & Egg McMuffin' and 'Two Sausage & Egg McMuffins'. After getting two of them and charging me for both, I asked for my money back for one of them.
She gave me all my money back and still gave me both.
I actually read somewhere, I think it was Time Magazine...people will actually come more often when served by a human face.
I guess it's a good thing I work in the kitchen then!
I'm gonna masturbate then go and order a metric shit tonne off the touch screen menus.
Better wash your hands after using them :v:
Every time I use a number pad at lunch, I usually press with my knuckle.
Good, because there are more important things that require a human presence than mindlessly taking and fucking up orders.
like making sure the machines don't fuck up the orders!.
Then it comes to America.
Suddenly 1000's of hispanics are without a job.
they say it will create new jobs, but thats a load of shit.
Who'll fix them when they break down every day then?
Maybe at one point we can just replace restaurants with large vending machines. Hopefully they won't be as shit as the self check-outs we have in some supermarkets nowadays.
Please place the item into the bag. unexpected item placed in bag, please remove. Please place the item back into the bag. unexpected item placed in bag, please remove. Please place the item back into the bag. Cannot scan item, please wait for assistance.
Hold on..
So people with no skills are being put out shit jobs, while converting about 1% of those jobs into tech support jobs consisting of supporting the new touch screen systems?
And I'm studying IT.
I honestly didn't expect to find myself working at McDonalds, but that might be a possiblity now.
As long as I can ask for extra pickles it will be Okay.
this is only a bad thing because of the ass backwards way the global economy (capitalism) works. do you realize how ridiculous it is that we live in a system where its actually a bad thing that less work is needed?
Fuck, there goes my job. Anyways, I don't see this improving speed. This improves how many employees McDonalds has to pay, but if it's like what we use on our registers, people are going to stand there wondering where everything is for quite a while and then have to ask someone how they special order or something. Just think of all those technologically retarded people behind computers holding up a line.
Maybe the McDonalds I work as just isn't as bad but my god you guys are crybabies. Oh durr hurr, 1 in every 50 through 70 orders has a small mistake and we always end up fixing it for free as fast as we can, what retarded dumpasses. lets just replace them with machines that are bound to fuck up even worse and require we call repairmen over just to get working again.
If the swipe cards end up being those unsecure magnetic stripe things that can be easily modified, I am going to die of a heart attack before I fucking turn 20.

someone jelly.
Really it was only a matter of time before automation got into the service industry, efficiency has a way of doing that. Your completely right though, it's more about cost effectiveness than an error margin, but can you really say that this is wrong?.
there really isn't a choice between paying you verses the machine, the machine saves fuck tons of money in the long run.
what do you want them to do?, let you keep your job to entertain yourself?.
the less human hands touch my food the better
Yeah, instead of a few people wearing gloves touching your food, you get to use a touch pad that has germs/grease/dirt/god knows what all over it from constant usage

"Boy, that was a great wank! I'm fucking starving, McDonalds would be good. Oh I forgot to wash my hands, oh well"

the scary thing is that there are people who are just like that
Reminds me of the kiosks in Mass Effect 2.
But you don't walk into the shop and hear your voice :v:
Or get those extremely creepy advertisements.
I'll just bring latex gloves if I ever need to use a touch screen.
I hope this doesn't come to America because the last thing we need is even more people unemployed.
No offense to power-mad but most McDonald's employees are the shittiest ever.
But without McDonald's, where will stupid useless people who are too dumb to learn anything go to get a job?
I don't want them all on welfare.

This is 100% true.
I like the idea of kiosks, but they are horrible in practice.
I have been going to Home Depot a lot lately for gardening stuff, and they have some touch screen kiosks and they are THE WORST. Half the people in line are too retarded to use them right and they break ALL THE TIME. It takes longer to use them because there is only one person on staff managing all 4 machines so when something goes wrong you have to wait for them to help other people first.
I imagine they will work like those self checkouts they have in supermarkets.
