Norway, Sweden, Finland, they're all dying and are proof that socialism doesn't work. It's not like Norway has more money than they know what to do with or anything. The problem with modern western governments is that the Government owns all of the essential services that are a money sink and have to keep working, and the private corporations own all of the sources of income (oil and other resources, etc.). The only way for the government to get the money for the essential services that no one else would run because you can't profit from them (or shouldn't, as you can see with the health care and prison industries) is through taxes, and the private owners of a countries resources will fight tooth and nail to keep the government getting as little of their money as possible. Scandinavia solved this problem very simply by having the government own all of the countries natural resources, and have the system of capitalism handle everything else. And it works WONDERS. Norway is providing vast, vast amounts of services to their people and they STILL have so much money they don't know what to do with it all. America has a shitload of natural resources being exported to other countries. We could easily be experiencing the economic prosperity of places like Norway if the government owned the countries resources. That won't happen any time soon, because the corporations who DO own the countries resources are so massive and powerful that no political party even dares stand up to them. And nothing will be done about it until the people finally wake up to the real reason our government is suffering from a lack of funds.
