thats just stupid, increasing trafic won't increase accidents as you have a wider shipping channel and more room for vessels to manuver. oil spills are even harder to cause as you have to rupture the right stuff. also its a coal port.
i'm supprised how wasteful that is, they should take the muck and use it to build more land, i mean land is a premium in all ports.
What a terrible development. Large swathes of the Barrier Reef are already dead or dying. I can't imagine that dumping a hundred million cubic feet of dirt on top of them is going to help matters any.
They should give it to Monaco so they can dump it in the sea and make their country bigger.
