ISIS claims it could buy its first nuclear weapon from Pakistan within a year
ISIS is a group that, if you study their religious ideology, is trying to bring on doomsday. The idea of them with a nuke is about as bad as things can get.
yup, most people forget that's one of the main tenets in ISIS ideology, causing the entire NATO to turn on them is something akin to a wet dream for ISIS, not to mention that they would cause considerable damage politically to the world by making everyone paranoid.
Pakistan poses the most serious nuclear proliferation threat in existence.
if they quit jihad and started a marketing firm they'd make bank
Just putting on the tin foil for a moment. But if selling a nuclear weapon to isis guarantees a huge war with lot of military contractors earning money, i could see someone wanting that to happen.

They'd forever be the person who stopped ISIS getting a nuclear bomb.
Imagine if they get a Tsar bomb
Imagine if they get a Tsar bomb
They'd have to make one considering the Soviets dropped the idea fairly quickly when MIRVs became fashionable and accuracy improved.
To be honest, I think things would end really badly for Pakistan if there were any hint their nuclear weapons aren't as securely stored as they should be. India would be rather worried, for starters.
We would finally have a justification to occupy them is all.

Hah, the US occupying Pakistan? Fat chance. India's the big dog in the region, and the US being on its borders wouldn't be tolerated. More like than not India will make a land grab to 'do the rest of the world a favour' if a nuke is actually sold through Pakistan. And Pakistan's a failed state with few solid allies. Nobody's going to come save them.

Even though the Tsar Bomba was detonated at a capacity of 50MT, its 3-phase design was theoretically capable of 100+ MT. It'd decimate a city such as London, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Paris or Berlin (or any other metropolis) within 30 seconds. After the test, even one of the lead nuclear physicists on the project, (Andrei Sakharov) spoke out against nuclear weapons (thus becoming a dissident.) It also lead to the LTBT (Limited Test Ban Treaty - also known as the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty) initially signed in "63 by the USSR, USA & UK.
If ISIS managed to even get such a bomb, I'd say nearly every single civilized nation on earth would form a massive military coalition to basically eradicate them from existence. Nuclear weaponry on such a scale defines the terror that jeopardises global safety & peace. That's why the superpowers don't even have nuclear weapons with that much yield anymore because they literally realise that's the equivalent to playing with fire on a global scale.

it weighed some 30 tons and put out so much radiation from the casing that it would set off every single gamma detector out there. the chances of them sneaking it into any place would be incredibly slim

India, occupying PK. That was my implication.
If isis does buy a nuke and they do decide to use it, what exactly would we do? This Isis shit is actually getting pretty scary

Best approach. Let them kill ea h other, stay out of it, fix our nations, build a war chest, get ready for war, and when one group dominates, go in and take over.....

Either way, such a thing won't help stability in the region. Pakistan is an Islamic theocracy, even if a failed one, and there'll be a lot of stateless militants out for blood if it collapses. India would see a hell of a lot more in terms of terror attacks. I imagine both eastern and western intelligence agencies are working overtime because of that little boast to ensure no such sale happens. IF they're good enough, IS getting their hands on a nuke can be entirely averted.
These morons have no idea of the capabilities of the power they would like to play with i think. Or what they might force the other nations to do. The past has proven that extreme religious zeal is no defense against atomic fire.
Althought they're more organised that most groups that have existed before it, it will be their downfall. If anything they're more likely to blow themselves up.

Having been raised in New Delhi, I have seen India's military presence and capabilities. India at the end of it's day will do anything to protect it's population. So far India prides itself in not having invaded a single country / enact military action aggressively outside of it's boarders, which is true, but - I personally see it no problem that India if in theory crossed the boarder west would play more of a peace keeping role in the process of PK getting a new government if it ever destabilized somehow. It's all speculation though based upon my own personal experiences, so just take it as a grain of salt though.

India is the United States's third largest debt holder.
I'm of the opinion that if there are people in the world crazy enough to found DAESH, there are people crazy enough to sell WMD's to them. Even so, we shouldn't need them threatening the use of nukes to get us to wipe them out.
They are trolls and need attention to thrive. Ignore them.
They seem to be killing them selves off by trying to get on the suicide list.
