And yet he is.
We do not sentence people for what MIGHT have happened. We sentence people for what DID happen. And what happened is a man was injured, survived, and the assailant plead guilty on all charges.
The cop (and the internet, evidently) is just being his typical vindictive-cop self, in complete defiance to how we handle cases once the cuffs come off and the judge comes in.
You obviously have something against all police officers if you made a comment like that. You aren't in your right mind arguing here. I'm curious to know what your past experience with a policeman was that made you like this.

Saying police aren't vindictive is stupid. They are.
Yes there's something wrong with the racial and religious minority living across the bible belt in areas notable for police brutality, racial profiling and general tomdickery toward dark people
because he doesnt trust the police
Be careful when you say the word "equal." Everyone says people need to be treated equally, America says it, the constitution says it, everyone says it. I don't believe so. People should be treated fairly. Fair and equal are different.
I just said that to point that out. No, I do not personally think that a police officer's violent death should be more punishable than a civilian's. Yawmwen made a pretty good point though - a police officer is sworn to protect and he can't do that if he's dead or getting shot at; potentially putting others in danger (I know there's exceptions though). Think of this - when a badguy shoot at a civilian, assuming he's unarmed, he gets shot at and that's that. Most of the time a badguy shoots at a cop, he gets shot back at, thus, twice the ammount of bullets are being fired. Twice the lethality and possibility for death. Like I said I don't think the worth of one's life is above the other, just saying. Either way fourteen years would be a pretty low sentence.

You.
You live in a very sheltered little world if you think you can trust police implicitly.
They lie, fabricate evidence, discriminate and kill. You can call that the minority of police, but I'd rather distrust the majority than be caught dealing with that minority.
Shit, this again? You're fucking kidding me...
Read what I said on page 6. "The police are stupid power-hungry assholes" is a stereotype and NOTHING but a stereotype. Sure, there's some officers who don't deserve to have their job but not all of them are like that. Let's consider the fact that 52.1% of violent crimes in America are committed by African Americans. Holy shit, every single black person must be a criminal! No... just no. It's the same fucking thing when people go around implying that every damn police department in the United States of America employs moronic police officers.

It isn't a fucking stereotype. It's true that police officers can kill people and get off with it. That doesn't mean every single one does, but it DOES justify a general suspicion when you find yourself speaking to a man who could end your life and not even get tried for it.
I brought it up? Huh. Considering you mentioned it three times before my post, it's pretty funny actually.
South Central is different than the rest of the United States, with a few exceptions. Shit is tough for everyone down there, which obviously means the law enforcement is going to be a bit more hasty with their decisions.
EDIT: Police officers can kill people and get away with it because their duty forced them to act with lethal engagement. SOMETIMES police officers injustly kill and get away with it. You're acting like it happens all the fucking time. It doesn't.
This is exactly why I tell you people to shut up. :D
I never said you weren't allowed to criticize law enforcement - I said quit being so fucking annoying about it. Quit sounding like a whining bitch about it, quit'cher fucking crying. You can criticize if necessary, by all means do it. But these people tend to over-exaggerate a lot. It is a stereotype.
Please stop being so butthurt. Please do me a favor and try to think rationally here for a moment. I've worked with police officers for quite a bit now, and I can tell you most of us do our job just fine. But don't get me wrong, you do of course have officers who are completely asinine and shouldn't have their job, but really it's just a stereotype for Christ's sake.
Stereotype
ster·e·o·type /ˈsterēəˌtīp/
A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing: "sexual and racial stereotypes".
I don't want to come off as flaming - but God you're an idiot. Do you know what an analogy is? I hope you do. People are going around saying, "Man these cops suck at their jobs we need to do something about it, all of them are idiots and they act like stuck-up assholes!". Let me first state that I am by no means racist. Let's consider the fact that 52.1% of violent crimes in America are committed by African Americans. Holy shit, every single black person must be a criminal! No... just no. It's the same fucking thing when people go around implying that every damn police department in the United States of America employs moronic police officers.
Thanks for calling me an idiot lol
Nah, just when you shoot somebody five times. :)
QUITCHER CRYIN. man shut the fuck up people like you that do nothing but perpetuate the status quo with your 'YOU'RE JUST STEREOTYPING ALL COPS OK' bullshit are far more annoying than any 'fuck the police' types. why do i care if you've worked with cops for quite a bit? me and mine have been harassed by cops my entire life but that's as irrelevant as your anecdotal experience.
Yes, but we're right. And we're usually more educated than the others.
noone who literally says 'quit'cher' can ever call themselves educated
Some of us come from different places where people talk differently.
I've stated opinion backed up with fact here; no one on the contrary has really done so.

don't trust someone with a gun on their hip.

That's true.
What kind of argument is that? Lawyers are dishonest?
Yeah no shit. Prosecutorial misconduct is how innocent people get the death sentence.
That's true.
And blacks too. They are 7 times more likely to commit a crime than a white person. They cannot be trusted.

Yes, I am trying to say that lawyers are dishonest and screw people over, and therefore NONE OF THEM can be trusted.
And blacks too. They are 7 times more likely to commit a crime than a white person. They cannot be trusted.
why are you trying to compare race to an occupation?

hey did you see that dea thread where law enforcement incompetence drove an innocent man to suicide

Yeah. No shit. Who's disputing that? Attorneys are far less accountable right now than they should be.
Defense attorneys are a hell of a lot more trustworthy than prosecutors though, as a note.
And blacks too. They are 7 times more likely to commit a crime than a white person. They cannot be trusted.
hope you've got some good proof of that that hasn't already been rebuked countless times.
preferably some proof of a genetic link between melanin and criminal tendencies.
I remember reading that the least trusted profession in America is actually Real Estate agents.
I'm sorry but if you're trying to get me to say I trust attorneys, you're shit out of luck. I have to work with those fuckers and I don't trust a goddamn one.

OK, and that proves that the majority of policemen are dishonest, fabricate evidence, discriminate and kill I guess.
where are these facts?
You can start with a simple definition that was posted. Google.com, define stereotype, then procede to read the analogy.
Also, it's very incorrect to say I'm of the "priveleged class." West Dayton is as tough as some parts of Chicago or even Atlanta, there's a crime index of 2... 100 being the safest. It's as tough on me as it is almost anyone else in this area. Assumptions can be bad.
