But being a stoner makes being fit even better
I kinda find this hard to believe seeing that my stoner friend is fairly overweight.
I, too, base all of my life views purely off anecdotal evidence. It makes everything way simpler.

"not being fat or high" does not count as any kind of recreational activity
I'm thinking it may be the other way around. People who are thin are more socially-accepted and beloved, which in turn, increases their chance of meeting someone who smokes pot, which increases the chance of someone trying it through their friend, which increases the chance of someone thin being a regular pot smoker.
I would assume that it's because stoners like to go out and do stuff. When I smoked pot a lot me and my friends would go and hike around the trails high. It was actually pretty boring just to sit around the house.
I suppose I'm being a bit critical of the language, but stoner usually refers to someone who smokes marijuana and doesn't do much. This is why the word stoned usually refers to more of a lazy, couch locked experience. A stoner wouldn't be likely to want to go on a nature walk. But language bends so I should stop complaining...
All this is saying is that more skinny people smoke pot than obese people.
It doesn't say anything about marijuana making you skinny, though more research needs to be done to prove/disprove this.

Hmm... That seems a bit far-fetched to me.
I assume the study makers factored out the age of the participants? Age would have been a major factor if not accounted for.
What. I eat so fucking much when I'm stoned, sometimes gaining up to half a kilogram per day.

Your weight fluctuates like 5 lbs a day...
This is true. lost about 10kg in the last six months.

*shrug*
You've got your life, I've got mine. Do what you will with yours. I choose not to smoke. Or drink. I'm certainly nowhere near obese, and I'm happy.
Dunno what that really has to do with the topic at hand, but I felt like saying it.

Stoner always meant someone who smokes pot regularly to me. I always attributed the word to how you feel heavy while high.
Last time, which was also the first time, I got high, I paced up and down the hallway of the vacant house I was using for two hours in an extremely unnatural jerky motion, got walked in on by my mother blazing high, she left, and I fell asleep on the couch.

I've been there.
One time my friend gave me a brownie before school started. During brunch we just stared at each other laughing really hard.
(I unknowingly ate it, when I got the taste, it was too late)
Facepunch knows one of my secrets.
marijauna smoke goes up when it is in the air
stoners breath in marijauna smoke
marijauna smoke makes them lighter
stoners = lighter = less fat
It also makes orange juice taste and sting like Sunny D.
From the rest of us to whomever wrote this article, I would like to offer forth a gigantic
no shit

Sounds fair to me, my bad if I happened to come off as trying to impose my life style on to you. When I made that statement, I wasn't high, but now that I am, I feel like I was being an asshole.
People who excercise regularly are less likely to be obese than non-active people, according to a new study. More at 9.
Is it because fatty food are easily accessible while weed while not that hard to get it not?
I would've imagined that just attempting to keep your figure for more than a day would work just as well, but okay.
Drug war: Takin the actual bad people out of jail and putting innocents in jail.
Because non-pot smokers are a definite group of people who share a known set of common attributes. These "studies" are complete bullshit. Saying smoking pot makes you skinny because more pot smokers are skinny is like saying black people are violent because they are incarcerated more often.

The study didn't say pot makes you skinny. It said there is a correlation.
I fucking knew it..
I'm not the only one who doesn't get "the munchies dawg" anymore after smoking a bowl.
And I have noticed quite some people losing weight when they have started smoking ganja.
The study is not credible.
True that smoking actually does increase your metabolism by a lot, but you also get cravings, the only way you'd lose weight or remain skinny is by not eating while having the munchies or going to healthy alternatives, which is quite a odd thing to do. My brothers lost tons of weight when smoking weed, but thats because they were mostly spending their money on drugs rather than food.
It's because they spend all of their money on weed instead of food
rate me dumb but I thought when I clicked on the thread I'd see a big fight
go to the first page, there is one
weed is the best, even without this flawed study.
Correlation isn't causation.
Me and friends have discussed this quite a lot. What we've found is that when you smoke it regularly (as we all do) you do not find hunger affecting you as much as it did before, because the hunger of munchies is so much greater. This means that you end up rarely eating that much throughout the day, and gorge yourself on food when you are high. It's almost like fasting really.
