"Deal with it baddie" is the worst goddamn excuse. I'm not saying his as a new player I loved Dark Souls, but saying it's perfect is silly.

They weren't intentional. But I've seen people say that to defend it.

no one is saying its perfect
Demon souls punished you, dark souls did not, DaSII is going back to punishing you
it's not your kind of game if you aren't okay with that.

It isn't perfect, but why isn't "Deal with it" a good enough response? There aren't enough games these days which are uncompromising and demand that their players improve if they want to continue. If you're complaining that Dark Souls is too hard you're playing the wrong game, to be frank.
I know, we should have the game treat you like a baby. When you die you get more HP and you do double damage!
Except it's not a permanent effect, your health goes back to normal after you restore your humanity.
Also Dustforce is the shit, some of the best video game music ever
Nonetheless, it's going to lead to people banging their head against the wall for longer, for no good reason. Not because they can't complete the challenge before them, but because they can't complete the challenge before them while missing a good portion of their life. It interferes with what ought to be a natural learning curve. I don't consider this to be a major criticism, and it's not like I won't get the game over a single nitpick, but that doesn't mean I like it. It might not even be that big of a deal considering in Dark Souls your life was basically measured in how many estus flasks you were carrying.
Also, Dustforce is indeed the shit.

Dark Souls isn't too hard. It's pretty straight forward aside from a few difficulty spikes. I'm saying making the game punishing rather than focusing on balancing the difficulty is a step in the wrong direction. Punishing is like IWBTG that throws shit at you you can't expect and wants you to learn through failure. Dark Souls worked because it gave you enough breathing room to have the possibility of doing it the first time, and not making it tedious to go back through again, while still being a good challenge. Which is good. Punishing is not.

I mostly agree with that. Demon's Souls is largely criticised for a lot of it's bullshit for good reason. But losing a small amount of your max HP is likely to make people more cautious in future attempts, and From Soft have stated that they want players to be in human form more often than they are in Dark Souls so returning to human will probably be much easier.
Also IWTBTG isn't a great example because it was designed entirely to piss off one guy.

I'm cautious about what they aren't saying. If their overall goal with the game is to make it punishing then it might suffer from it.
And yeah IWBTG is an extreme example but it's very obvious to everyone what's wrong with it. Which makes it adequete.

Well it seems to me like every change they've made to make the game more punishing has also come with a change to make it more forgiving. When you die your max HP is slightly reduced, there are now bosses who can attack you through out areas, and backstabbing/riposting is more difficult. To counter that you now have 3 item slots for each hand, you can use healing stones to regenerate health on the move, and you can warp between every bonfire once you rest at them.
I think the whole "Dark Souls 2 is more punishing" thing is over blown, just like how before Dark Souls came out everyone said it would be incredibly hard, when really its just difficult but fair.
I know, we should have the game treat you like a baby. When you die you get more HP and you do double damage!
How about instead we prevent players from regenerating any health during the entire game! After all if you were dumb enough to get hit you deserve to have that held against you for the rest of the game! Of course if you die you'll have to start over! We also should do away with silly things like pause menus and check points, those aren't for REAL players! If they can't play the entire game from beginning to end in a single session than they're not REAL gamers!

And where do you have Super Meat Boy, Hotline Miami, FTL, Dragon Age Origins and the many other games like them? Are they too easy? Not challenging enough for you because you aren't crippled after your first death? Do you only think that games like I Wanna Be The Guy/Fan Game are worthy of being called difficult?
Also "Deal With It" is a way of dismissing the other person without consideration.

Also the developers said that Human Effigies will only be found on Bosses and rarely through the game and will be of limited number. So it can be entirely possible to get stuck at a low amount of HP for a very long time.

what
what
A lot of people found origins to be quite difficult, unless you were a Mage.

okay not to sound like a dick or anything but
i'm shaking with barely contained laughter right now
DA:O wasn't a difficult game.
I sucked at DAO. I dunno what I was doing wrong but I had a tough time.
Was mostly likely me just playing like an idiot and not thinking.
DA:O wasn't a difficult game.
Again, if you had played as a mage it was easy as many of the skills were outright broken. However for many people the game was difficult enough that people were talking about it on the forums for a while. It didn't try to sell itself as a 'hardcore' game though, unlike Dark Souls.

Last year i beat the game in one night as a rogue
do you really want to fucking tell me that game is difficult, it's only difficult if you don't understand computer rpgs.

I don't play casters/mages in games.
It's boring.
And it didn't advertise itself as a hardcore game because it isn't one.
I'm just worried that the ability to become human will be limited.
I'm just worried that the ability to become human will be limited.
Being human in Demon Souls was fairly limited since the item needed (I can't remember the name of it) to go back in you human form wasn't all that common. It wasn't that much of an issue.

You're turning this into a personal attack on me when I never said it would be difficult for me or for you. Then again we probably play more games than most people do and therefore are better at it. But that's neither here nor there; I put my foot in my mouth because I put in a 'Conventional Difficulty' game in with ones that were sold as hard core. I made a mistake, you can stop now.
just release a special dark souls controller that tasers you every time you die
imho the gameplay in Dragon Age was really unintuitive and kind of badly designed in terms of actual feel, the whole thing felt like the keyboard was buried beneath seven feet of mud just because of the delay and dulled-down sleepiness of it. the actual game part was super easy, but it just didn't feel good or natural at all for me
I'm just worried that the ability to become human will be limited.
That was actually my biggest and probably only complaint with Dark Souls.
You have so much Humanity it was pouring out of your ass and you never had to worry about being hollow ever again.
Fucking ridiculous. I can't remember being hollow once after undead burg
[editline]20th September 2013[/editline]
Don't worry guys, there will be plenty of other games to play if Dark Souls 2 is too hard for you.

It was an incredibly rare drop and you got a limited amount of them.
The only other way to get your humanity back was by defeating the levels bosses, which you could only do once. You couldn't just go back to a level you already played and fight the boss for humanity.
It was so frustrating when you finally get to the end only to die some retarded death in the beginning of the next level.
You almost end up playing through the entire game with half health unless your careful, and that's exactly what this system did. It taught me to be really fucking careful because I cherished my humanity and didn't want to lose it.
Plus if you die as a human the enemies get stronger.

Will people stop fucking saying shit like this? It's so condescending and douchebaggy.
wait was sens hard for people?
Almost the entire game was hard for people, especially for those who did not grind souls for hours to level up.
But I guess this kind of talk makes no sense to you and your MLG Dark Souls clan.
