Canada's military is like the UN's personal army.

sending lumberjacks to do a maniacs job
Didn't Canada try to buy a used Russian sub off ebay?
"Second hand" and "made in Britain" are probably not two phrases you want to put together, probally explains all of the problems that you have had with them.
Pretty much the moment we bought them, one of them caught fire

dont forget our vast quantities of URANIUM!
Canada has never been in a war because they always manage to talk the enemy down.
"Hey, what's wrong, Russia? Oh, you're declaring war on us, eh? Come with me to Tim Horton's, let's get some coffee. There we go. Have you had breakfast yet? No? Let's get you some breakfast, eh? Pancakes with maple syrup sound good? So, why are you declaring war on us? Oh, now you forgot? Well, when you remember again get back to us on that, we'll talk it over with some more coffee."

This thread made me laugh hard in the middle of a seminar.
I see the cardboard box manufacturers wanted their stock returned.

I like the response from the British government, basically blaming the Canadians for not checking it out properly.
"The situation was further exacerbated by controversial comments made by Secretary of State for Defence Geoff Hoon. He accompanied his condolences for Saunders with a proposal that the Royal Navy would charge Canada for the cost of the rescue while also stating that Canada as the buyer had to beware."

I'm having trouble telling if you're trolling or just genuine stupid.

And that's how we won the Cold War. You're welcome.

Yes. It was.
Why bother having submarines when you have a strong air force

M16's rigged onto cessnas a machine gunner in an old Bell helicopter from the 60's.
Why bother having submarines when you have a strong air force
The Canadians don't have one of those either.
Probably because they sit next to the strongest air force on the planet, but still it seems odd.
We're suppose to be getting 60+ F-35s, but that might not even happen.

Then again, we only had one Beach to send our forces to.

People will complain either way.
Yeah I live in Halifax ,Nova Scotia where they have three of the submarines stored,
They just sit there all three right next to each other doing absolutely nothing all year long, and are so rusty that you can see the rust when your going across the bridge to the other side of the harbour.
Really makes you wonder why they even bought them from the British if they were just going to have them sit there and rot.

Because one of them spontaniously caught fire off the west coast of Ireland as soon as you bought one, and the others are full of technical issues and the likes. The British government ripped you off, which is a pretty fucking low thing to do.
They sit next to the world's largest arms dealer and they buy from the Brits.
In related news, the American submarine from the era, the Los Angeles class, remains in service. 43 strong.
Seriously. We do a lot of stupid shit, but when it comes to weapons BUY THEM FROM US. The war mongering society that virtually all of western civilization relies on to remain stupidly overpowered militarily, might just know how to make weapons.
Well, we once were close to buying a bunch of F-14s...
...from the Iranians. :v:
Anyways, we're free to make our own decisions what weapons we'd like to purchase. Leopard 2s over Abrams is fine and good.

We buy most of our shit from the Germans. We use German equipments, Helmets, Tac-vest, Rifles and other shit made in Canada.
Also our Airforce is tiny so we relied on American Air but on the ground we kicked ass.
BTW-Submarines can be extremely valuable in the Arctic environment.

Have to say, the US does a lot of great military gear, but the Germans do an amazing job too, and I'm not sure, but I think that Accuracy International and BAE Systems are supposed to be pretty effective. (both UK companies)
The US ones are probably better value for money when thinking about an entire armed force, though.
