Huh, the majority of Sweden voted no to change currency to Euro, which I am happy for. Personally I love the simple and easy way that is SEK I have a hunch that I misinterpreted the OP article though, but I'm hoping Sweden will stick to the currency it has

It most likely refers to 'vika', which was an old norse maritime distance. Víking refers to an expedition overseas. And yes, I know that the European kingdoms were disorganized after the fall of Rome, all that jazz, and that Vikings migrated to the British isles, and the fact that viking ancestry had no effect on the Norman invasion of England, seeing as they settled in Normandy almost 200 years prior to invading England.
