Al Qaeda Al Jazeera mind=never the same again
open ur eyes america
I've always been a fan of Al Jazeera's live stream, but they appear to have discontinued it in America right now (probably because they're launching the American version soon).
Al Jazeera is meant to be really good but it has a arabic sounding name so most people ignore it thinking its the terrorism news network
NPR did a segment on this earlier today. One of the guys speaking made an analogy to Japanese cars in the 60s - it was a stigma to have one because we had just finished a very bitter war with them yet today they're major competitors in the US. I think he's right. AJA will have a rough start for sure, but I can see it as a major, major competitor to Fox, CNN, and MSNBC ten years down the road.
Didn't a bunch of Al Jazeera reporters recently quit because they were forcing them to report on false news on the events unfolding in Egypt?
That was one part of Al Jazeera, not its English part nor anything to do with this new American branch - which I may add will be mostly staffed with Americans.
I have heard about Al Jazeera before. I saw a program on TV about how they came to hungary and made some report, faking the whole thing making us look like racists and nazis. It was full of lies about the government and everything in the country. That's all i need to know about them.
But hungarians are racists and nazis
Al Jazeera is a pretty good news source but I've heard of some morally questionable practices from them. There was an Fp'er that said the Taliban tipped them off that they were gonna ram a bomb truck into there base, so instead of warning them they set up Cameras to watch it happen.
Without a doubt, there is no perfect news agency, but Al Jazeera is better than most.
Heh, good luck Al Jazeera. I won't be watching. You're a major news outlet and that automatically disqualifies you from appearing on my TV.
I think he means its a source that people will dispute if you use it
And for good reason. Like all the major news outlets they're quite biased.
This channel is going to crash and burn, 90% of Americans think Al Jazeera is run by terrorists and Fox News will work day and night to convince the other 10%.
Al Jazeera is alright most of the time and generally good. Although when it comes to things in their neck of the woods they've had issues in the past. Stay a bit objective.
I'm willing to bet its impossible to run a successful cable news network in the United States without being biased.
Al Jazeera is propaganda, Al Jezeera english much less so, but whenever a Qatari dissident is fucked up by police they either, keep it hush hush, write a tiny article about it.
I'm actually looking forward to this. Al Jazeera English did a great job covering a lot of what was happening in the NK crisis earlier this year, and I'm looking forward to them covering stuff other networks won't. The fact that they're doing news every 30 minutes, even at 3am is kinda amazing - it means that, in theory, they have no excuse not to cover something.
Al Jazeera is propaganda, Al Jezeera english much less so, but whenever a Qatari dissident is fucked up by police they either, keep it hush hush, write a tiny article about it.
And yet you would happily post from RT without a second thought if you were to not get in trouble for it.
Heh, good luck Al Jazeera. I won't be watching. You're a major news outlet and that automatically disqualifies you from appearing on my TV.
What the hell does appear on your TV then?
And yet you would happily post from RT without a second thought if you were to not get in trouble for it.
I'd happily post from Al Jazeera too.
Al Jazeera is alright most of the time and generally good. Although when it comes to things in their neck of the woods they've had issues in the past. Stay a bit objective.
to be fair, there isn't a single non-biased source covering the middle east, they tend to be closest you get more often than not through.
I'd happily post from Al Jazeera too.
So you are admitting you intentionally post propaganda? [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
Heh, good luck Al Jazeera. I won't be watching. You're a major news outlet and that automatically disqualifies you from appearing on my TV.
What the hell do you use for news? Infowars?
Heh, good luck Al Jazeera. I won't be watching. You're a major news outlet and that automatically disqualifies you from appearing on my TV.
News hipsters, that's new to me
Al Jazeera is a pretty good news source but I've heard of some morally questionable practices from them. Pretty shitty either way though. [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
Heh, good luck Al Jazeera. I won't be watching. Like all the major news outlets they're quite biased.
Are you a news hipster or something, not all major news outlets are biased you know. Maybe that's what you are used to in America but in the rest of the world news isn't horribly biased just because it appears on TV. Then again aren't most (all?) the news channels in America funded by commercial funding which allows people to push their views, that probably explains it.
The best news source in the US at the moment is the BBC.
The best news source in the US at the moment is the BBC.
And NPR
And NPR
I love listening to NPR, but I find BBC slightly better.
Al Jazeera America’s New York headquarters sits inside a nondescript entrance on West 34th St. and 8th Avenue, inside the building that houses The New Yorker hotel.
Funnily enough, that's literally half a block away from the office building I work in :v: [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] A block and a half actually.
AJE was biased as fuck under recent Egyptian unrest, too.
Journalists protested that and got fired.
In my opinion, it's about as credible as Fox News honestly. So if some people want to watch it, be my guest. I'm not.
Great, another source that can't be cited without people calling bullshit for it's own sake.
arabic was never a strong point for me, can someone interpret pls? [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
Al Jazeera is alright most of the time and generally good. Although when it comes to things in their neck of the woods they've had issues in the past. Stay a bit objective.
Al Jazeera is quality. The news presenters are genuinely worldwide, and the reports aren't politically focused but rather straight up and true. You watch BBC news then switch to Al Jazeera, you'll feel better.
What the hell does appear on your TV then?
Auto racing, Mythbusters, COPS, Top Gear, and the odd cartoon or two. Sometimes I'll watch something like A Haunting or Ghost Hunters if I'm bored. [editline]19th August 2013[/editline]
Are you a news hipster or something
No. I just can't stand the sensationalism. I also don't care about the news to begin with. If I really do get an urge to follow the news on TV I get BBC America.
not all major news outlets are biased you know.
Better to assume they aren't until they prove otherwise. Less likely to be disappointed and misled that way.
Then again aren't most (all?) the news channels in America funded by commercial funding which allows people to push their views, that probably explains it.
Indeed they are. If I decide I care enough to watch the news I do get BBC America, so I can watch the Beeb, but because I also don't particularly care very much I never do that. I only ordered BBC:A because they air Top Gear, after all.
In my opinion, it's about as credible as Fox News honestly. So if some people want to watch it, be my guest. I'm not.
Can you explain how you formed that opinion? [editline]20th August 2013[/editline]
[editline]19th August 2013[/editline] No. I just can't stand the sensationalism. I also don't care about the news to begin with. If I really do get an urge to follow the news on TV I get BBC America.
The hell are you doing in this section? :v:
The hell are you doing in this section? :v:
Entertainment. It's fucking hilarious to watch how hard some people take the sensationalist bullshit, and once in a while it's amusing to jump in and have a little fun first-hand.
I get my news from multiple sources, including Al Jazeera, and compare between them. They do have their moments of extreme bias, but they've done a lot of legit reporting that was simply missed by the American media.
