lets call it world war 4 just to fuck with future generations
"when was world war 3"
Technically speaking the Cold War does more or less meet the definitions for a World War. So we could retroactively rename it World War 3, I mean nobody really called the "Great War" World War 1 until after WW2 happened so it wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah, actually it does. It was a long and widespread conflict involving the majority of the world's most powerful and populous nations and included battles fought in multiple theaters. It does more or less meet the definitions for a world war, some people do already refer to it as being technically the third world war. Either way I was never seriously suggesting that we start a fourth world war and start referring to the cold war as the third one, I'm just saying it's not totally incorrect to call it that, and the first world war was retroactively named as well, no need to get your panties in a twist.

would this make the napoleonic wars or 7 years war a world war

I've always wondered about the 7 Years War. I mean, let's break it down:

Green:
France, Spain, Austria, Russia, Sweden + Minor Allies
Blue:
Britain, Portugal, Prussia + Minor Allies
This war left over 1 Million dead, and lasted, well, 7 years (roughly). It was devastating, and areas of conflict spread from North America to Europe to India.
So, I'd say the 7 Years War was the first "World War", in effect.

Well yeah, if you wanna go back further there have been multiple "World Wars" prior to the "First World War", we just didn't really come up with the term until the "first" one, and by then we already had names for the other ones.

The current war of terror fits your definition better than the cold war
how many world wars do you want before the term becomes meaningless?
That's why we need to abandoned the term "World War" at all...
Correction; they want to trigger a Second Great Patriotic War
I wonder, would this person be unbanned if this does in fact somehow magically start another world war?
