I have a huge gas guzzling truck because i need it to haul hundreds of pounds worth of shit back and forth around town every day in order to make a living. Guess i'm self-centered, greedy, wasteful and endanger others willfully. I should definitely get a prius to make you happy, right?
Ah that must be the case for everybody who owns one then
Considering most SUV's are used for only hauling kids and minor things in the back or on the tow hitch, which one do YOU think makes the most sense? Also guess which one is the most aerodynamic and economic. The Wagon is a Volvo V50, which is approximately 4,522 millimeter long, while the Ford SUV is 4,442 Millimeter. [editline]?[/editline] Shit, here's the most popular car in Northern Europe for soccermoms & alike [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/pho_gallery_MZ5_ext11.jpg[/t] Mazda 5 The epitome of a minivan.
I've been talking to people about the bumper mismatch for years. Took my dad's Chevy Aveo into the US a few months ago and immediately got worried: every vehicle was a truck or SUV. I know it's northern New York state but jesus what the fuck does everyone and their dog need with that many huge vehicles?
It's the American car culture, muscle cars and large trucks are highly glorified.

There's a large range of SUV sizes, some are pretty compact, like the RAV 4 or whatever. However, Chevy Blazers and Cadillac Escalades scare me... my little RSX stands no chance in a collision :(
I like having big cars (I've used a minivan built on the chassis of an F-150, an SUV, and now a big old boat of a car as my main vehicle, and I think my next car will be an F-150) because then I'm safer if someone slams into me. I have no intention of slamming into anyone, or driving in a manner that makes an accident more likely, but I want to be safe if someone else is driving like an idiot.

I get the urge to honk whenever I see the idiot in front of me look down at whatever dumb shit is on their phone. Not that the study is SUV drivers are more likely to crash, but seriously maybe less people would die overall in crashes regardless of vehicle type if you could put your fucking phone down for 30 minutes.
Or you could get an old volvo. Dent the bumper? Say goodbye to the thing it hit.
That's why they made it illegal where I live.
It's illegal to be on a phone call in Colorado without a handsfree set, let alone texting. It doesn't stop anybody. I don't do it because the 2-3 times I've tried have resulted in some swerving or what have you, but I haven't done it on any main roads. I learned pretty quickly that it's a bad idea. My only accident was actually caused by my own idiocy but at least my eyes were on the road.
That's why they made it illegal where I live.
It most probably is illegal where Protocol is from, people don't follow the law.
I lied about the being on the phone part, it's only for people under 18. Texting while driving in any form is illegal.

No freaking shit, our 2005 nissan pathfinder has a proper frame underneath it, You don't find that on a normal car.
Here on Long Island I've noticed that for the most part people with SUV's are fairly safe drivers, it's the one's with the monster SUV's like Suburban's and Escalade's that are the issue. I've noticed that most of the people who buy those, and this is a quote from a friend, buy them because "With a car like that I can do whatever I want and nobody will fuck with me". I have another friend, who after buying a Chevy Tahoe, found it completely appropriate to just drive right through stop signs because "If I get into an accident I'm not gonna be the one getting hurt." People with their Porsche Cayenne's are the worst of the bunch though, because not only are most of them bad drivers, they also like to race each other. For me having to deal with these people is a little scary because I drive a dinky little Saturn and if I meet up with one of these people it's over. Now of course there are a lot of people who buy big SUV's because they actually need them for moving cargo or need them for their towing power. But there's just a lot of people around here who buy them because they feel like owning one entitles them to be an ass. I wish there was a way to make wagons more popular again. My pops has a 73 Pontiac Grand Safari that he uses for work when he has to haul lumber or something big. It's an old monster wagon of the 70's so it's 20ft long, weighs over 5000lbs, and it's 7.5L V8 gets 13 mpg on a good day, but at least it's low to the ground, so it's easier to control and the bumpers match up with the average car so that if you do get into an accident the vehicle you hit isn't going to get annihilated.
Wagons would make more sense. They have an overall lower stance so less chance of rollovers and of course, the bumpers match up with passenger cars. Also tons of room of passengers and cargo making it basically just a lowered SUV.
