EA releases free games list to compensate for sim city fuck ups.

I didn't see that coming, nice list of games to choose from.
look at CD projekt for a good example of how to handle DRM fuck ups
all versions of the witcher 2 aside from Good Old Game's were given abysmal DRM. CD Projekt realized this in days and removed it completely a few days after from all versions. Simple as that.
Not at all comparable. Witcher 2 was a singleplayer game that had anti-piracy DRM. SimCity is an online game where the DRM facilitates gameplay.
It's cool that they're giving out a free game but this will lead to people saying: "EA isn't that bad, they even gave me a free game". This is not good because EA should learn a lesson.
Imagine someone getting Warfighter and realizing he just got a worse game as compensation.

EA rarely learns from their mistakes, do they? This means that they really deserved their Golden Poo Award, now they should expect a Platinum Diarrhea Award
Gotta find something to hate about EA
I can now honestly say, without any sarcasm, that I will never buy another EA game again or until the publisher stops forcing all the developers to change their games for EA benefit. I mean, here's the list of games they are offering, but also what they are REALLY offering.
-Battlefield 3 Basic. That's great, but Premium is 50 bucks, so you still have to buy $50 worth of DLC to get the full experience.
-Bejeweled is a game you can play on a flash website, and it's like 5 bucks, great offer!
-Dead Space 3 is the worst of the franchise due to EA direction, and is now full of micro transactions and nothing scary. They made a horror show out of a great horror game.
-Mass Effect 3 tells you how many options for an ending you get, red, blue, or green. 0% effort for the last game and they knew it would sell because, hey, it's the last one!
-MOH Warfighter, it's just bad don't get it.
-NFSMW is the same NFS game they made the last 6 times, with bad catch-up "AI" and suicide cops.
-Plants VS Zombies is a good game, but get it in a steam sale for 2-5 bucks.
-Sim City 4 is the only one worth getting since it's better than Sim City anyway.
What I have learned from EA, or at least in regards to their marketing strategy is that you make a quality game, then dial it down over the sequels and add more DLC and DRM. Make one good game that grows and develops a community, make a sequel really quick to get everyone excited to get it. Draw more people in by simplifying gameplay more or just dumbing it down, and then after that DLC has been dried up in sales, you release the final game with even more dlc. And if someone doesn't like their games, and they let EA know, EA responds by banning their games account in full.
They could just turn off always on drm and it would save them the money and be more effective in rewarding patience.
I suppose they know everyone will still hate them anyway.
Ha. Mass Effect 3. There's another game that upset the internet, isn't that a bit of a punch in the face? Complained about Sim City? Now you can complain about ME3 as well!
But if they remove DRM then they remove control of their rental system! Because all you do is rent your games since you can't play them by yourself, EA needs to be there too!

Looks like a massive bitching festival in my post, but I'm just being honest and saying what everyone is probably thinking.
Well, atleast people that bought it can now get a good SimCity game.
If there's one thing I've learned playing the new SimCity, it's that it doesn't replace SC4 nor does it try to.
Was wanting Battlefield 3. Good, now I don't have to pay for it.
Yeah you do, you wanna play on most servers consistently you gotta have at least 1 DLC. A great deal of servers won't run just vanilla.
-Battlefield 3 Basic. That's great, but Premium is 50 bucks, so you still have to buy $50 worth of DLC to get the full experience.
Correction: You get the full experience of Battlefield 3. There is nothing basic about it, it's a full AAA release. You can buy the DLC if you want to though and get that experience.
Hey, nice that Medal of Honor and Dead Space 3 are on there. I expected it just to be SimCity 4, Battlefield 3, and Need for Speed.
-Bejeweled is a game you can play on a flash website, and it's like 5 bucks, great offer!
but dude bejeweled 3 has zen mode where you can set it to tell you positive comments and how to breathe while playing
it's goty 2012 because of that feature
Yeah you do, you wanna play on most servers consistently you gotta have at least 1 DLC. A great deal of servers won't run just vanilla.
This is actually completely false. Close Quarters and Armored Kill are barely played and vanilla servers are still the vast majority of ones available.
We don’t want any of you to miss out on your free game, so please note that you must register your copy of SimCity before March 25, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT and you must claim your free game by March 30, 2013 at 11:59 PM PDT
Right, they don't want anyone to miss out on their free game yet they're giving everyone 1 week to claim.
lol EA.
the only dlc worth playin is end game.
just because i can ride motorcycles and annoy the shit out of the other team with a quick f2 button press to switch to backseat so i can pull out my rpg and shoot them then flip back to driver seat (also to quickly repair my vehicle when im not in combat).
Battlefield 3 and Dead Space 3 are actually really surprising, I thought they would add things like Need For Speed, some other more unsuccesful shooter or a sports game.
two average-quality AAA titles for $60. I'm pretty happy with this
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
although lol @ PvZ and Bejeweled
Hey guys, check if the Need for Speed Most Wanted is the 2005 game or the 2012 from Criterion?
Hey guys, check if the Need for Speed Most Wanted is the 2005 game or the 2012 from Criterion?
Most probably the 2012 version
Correction: You get the full experience of Battlefield 3. There is nothing basic about it, it's a full AAA release. You can buy the DLC if you want to though and get that experience.
Yes but DICE are treating the game like a damn F2P game that you pay for. Premium only servers, premium exclusive queues so they get in faster than me and premium double xp weekends almost every damn weekend.
Most probably the 2012 version
Thought so, because the original Most Wanted (also called Underground 3 by some) isn't available on Origin. Anyway, Need for Speed isn't good anymore now that EA has revealed they made big mistakes (but promises to repeat them)
Final words on this: EA loses again, let's celebrate with Caramelldansen!
BF3 being on the list was pretty much a given but I didn't expect to see Dead Space 3 on there.
Well come on, Compared to the first, Dead Space 3 is god awful terrible. Even the second is miles better. They know the value of their quality, which is actually kind of sad, since they keep pumping it out without improving it. With Battlefield 3 up there, they have 5 DLC's for sale separate, and a shit ton of little microtransaction like extras such as Camo patterns and shortcuts and the Premium, so putting that up there for free is going to give them even more money in the long run more than likely. Medal of Honor is shit, BeJeweled is an alright 30 minute time passer. Mass Effect 3 is another huge disappointment if you've played the other two. The only real compensation in the list, ironically, is Sim City 4
I kinda wanna get MoH Warfighter, just to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
I kinda wanna get MoH Warfighter, just to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
it goes right into the nearest sewer line
I kinda wanna get MoH Warfighter, just to see how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Don't bother. Seriously. You might as well get no games at all...
Would have preferred crysis 3, but since I have everything but bejeweled and dead space 3, I think I'll get bejeweled.
Crysis 3 would have been an amazing addition by far, glad I'm not alone in thinking that.
So what happens to the people that already own all of those games? Do they just get screwed over?
Don't bother. Seriously. You might as well get no games at all...
Well, I have BF3 and PvZ, I still don't accept any Mass Effect except the first one as canon, I never got into Dead Space, Need for Speed got silly rubber-band AI, so I'm left with Warfighter for the shits and the giggles, or Sim City 4 for an actual okay game.
I have BF3 and Dead Space 3. So my options are
Mass Effect 3
Need for Speed
Medal of Honor: Warfighter
Which one is the best?

If you want shits and giggles, get Mass Effect 3 for the online wave fighting co-op, if you want an Ok game, SimCity 4 all the way
