we really have made history
Canada made gay marriage legal long before America. Also I wonder if any crazy chrsitans are screaming about the rapture yet? As a straight person I could care less but everyone deserves equlity just like everyone else.
HOUSTON – In the heart of Montrose, the heart of Houston's gay community, an American flag fluttered above a rainbow-hued flag symbolizing gay pride. Inside a small office building a couple of blocks away, an accountant and her two children smiled and laughed as they talked about the U.S. Supreme Court decision that essentially legalized same sex marriage across the nation. Behind them sat a photograph of the accountant and her wife, Mayor Annise Parker. "It's a huge step," said Kathy Hubbard, Houston's first lady. "Huge step. And I'm glad for the girls the country has validated our marriage and us as parents." As the first openly gay mayor of a major American city, Parker has occupied an inevitably high-profile position during this decade's seismic social and legal changes affecting gay Americans. If it's an unlikely role for a generally shy and introverted woman, it's just as unlikely for the woman she married last year in a small ceremony in California.
http://www.khou.com/story/news/politics/2015/06/26/mayor-annise-parker-releases-statement-on-gay-marriage-ruling/29330397/ The annual Pride Parade is tomorrow. How fitting.

Dear American Conservatives, A decade ago, we passed a law effecting the same thing that your "activist" Supreme Court just enacted. You may have noticed that the 49th parallel is not a gaping black void left over from when Satan pulled us below to our eternal torment. Instead, we have an asshole in office that's trying to make us more like you, but even he is not trying to reverse our same-sex marriage law. Churches enjoy just as much religious freedom as they did prior to the 2005 bill, and they are not required to perform marriages for any couples that violate their beliefs. City Hall performs marriages if nobody else will, so everyone can get what they want. It's no different this time around for you, despite what Fox News says. It's time to stop listening to them, eh? They're trolls. We'll always be your big warm loving bear-like friends on top, Canada P.S. It's going to be okay. I mean it. It's scary now, but it'll be okay.
The dumbs really show the asshole homophobes on facepunch. Congrats America on doing something that probably won't be done in Australia for quite a while. Hopefully this gives us momentum though.

will this also help gays adopting? I'm not sure if they're allowed to adopt or if they have a separate adoption process that's way more difficult compared to straight people
will this also help gays adopting? I'm not sure if they're allowed to adopt or if they have a separate adoption process that's way more difficult compared to straight people
more than likely so, yes. I haven't read much outside of my old state, but same-sex couples could adopt in Florida from what I was told/what I remember.
will this also help gays adopting? I'm not sure if they're allowed to adopt or if they have a separate adoption process that's way more difficult compared to straight people
The biggest hurdle is out of the way, everything else should go more smoothly from here on.
will this also help gays adopting? I'm not sure if they're allowed to adopt or if they have a separate adoption process that's way more difficult compared to straight people
I don't see why gays shouldn't be allowed to adopt, they're just as capable of having a family as any straight person.
it's not a constitutional amendment. state laws can't give people less rights than federal laws.
Huh? I think I might be misunderstanding you. It doesn't need to be an amendment. It is an interpretation of previously existing amendment (the 14th).
The biggest hurdle is out of the way, everything else should go more smoothly from here on.
The Biggest Hurdle? Oh no, That's only just been set up. No denying that this one was big, but You still got Religion to fight, and Fight it will! And I'm not talking just Christian, You got Muslim and Jewdism too.
rather whatever gives them the vote
Political representatives are supposed to represent their constituents, so if the opinions of their constituents are changing, then so too should their political platform. That's the point, is it not? :v:

This really shines the spotlight on my homophobic asshole friends on Facebook. Now I know who to stop talking to.
I've actually had not one Facebook friend make a salty post about the legalization. Not one. I guess I pick 'em well. o:
To anyone wondering where marriage is legal in the earth:
Now the supreme court needs to do this for marijuana, All the exploding heads over that would rival this one at the very least.
Australia, England and Germany?? I am surprised (and dissapointed).
Australia, England and Germany?? I am surprised (and dissapointed).
UK (except Northern Ireland) have gay marriage and Germany has civil unions.
Today gay marriage, tomorrow gay marijuana. One step closer to gay abortion

The UK doesn't allow it? That stinks. [editline]27th June 2015[/editline]
UK (except Northern Ireland) have gay marriage and Germany has civil unions.
I figured.
Woops, on my phone and hit disagree when I meant to hit list. I really hope this makes Australia push it through, we've been waiting on bi-partisan support but this definitely iis a shove in the right direction
Lmao
THE SOUTH WILL RISE I actually was trying to write a meaningful thought to explain how it's pathetic that people think this way and try and make "Inspirational posters" with the symbolism of "this is a great tragedy, America has fallen" but I mean, why waste energy on those idiots :)
