To anyone wondering where marriage is legal in the earth:
Isn't it legal in some Mexicans states?
My mother is the same and she is very homophobic.
I had to hear the "The world's coming to an end" spiel all day. It was torture. Personally? I'm just happy for my friends who can get married now. They were really looking forward to it.
I feel like this region will be troublesome. Though I'm unsure of the stance in India and China.
I'm guessing following this US decision, evangelical groups are going to double down their efforts in Africa to pass as many laws as they can to get as many gay people murdered as they can, but I can see progress happening in East Asia in the next decade or so.

Look Bryan, i know gay sex is pretty damn hot, but it can't melt steel beams.
The world has alot of catching up to.
A Peruvian congressman, Carlos "Rooftie" Bruce (Nicknamed because of his involvement in a national housing program), submitted a law project a few months ago, making legal the civil union between people of the same sex (The Civil Union). Bruce is the first Peruvian politician that is openly gay. And of course this little project split the country in half, because while the young population is demanding equal rights for everyone, the old idiots ruling the country are repeating the same excuses they used in the fifties against women's suffrage (Namely, it would destroy families, it attacked the traditional family, put children at risk, went against religion, etc etc etc). And then we have the peruvian conservative that puts some of the Fox News commenters to shame. The project was, obviously, canned. Then again, this is the same congress that gave us a conservative christian idiot that claimed that it is a "scientifically proven fact that women can't get pregnant from being raped, because the shock and stress causes a lack of lubrication in the vagina, which prevents impregnation" (I'm paraphrasing a bit, but yes, he really fucking said that)
Coming from a Christian household, I cannot openly express my thoughts on this ruling to my family (well besides my mother who is a democrat). My father on the other hand is a very right wing republican and I overheard him mentioning that if things continue like this then Right of Religion will go away. I love him to death but I just can't argue with him on these things or even global warming because he only listens to what he believes. I know he doesn't have any actual hate towards others and is a very good Christian, but he disagrees with the leftist morals of these sorts of things and thinks Obama is the worst. I hope he comes to accept these changing times, will be interesting to see how my church handles the ruling since they actually have a very open mind on acceptance and loving others.
This is the first 10+ page SH thread I've seen that's been primarily positive and not filled with arguing. Nice!
Can't wait for (almost) everyone in this country to compare legalizing gay marriage to legalizing zoophilia. :v:

Fresh off my newsfeed: "There is not a single society in the history of mankind that has ever survived the disintegration of the family, and this one won't be an exception." It's amazing how refreshing some good salt can be.
Well, we've survived interracial couples and women's suffrage, I'd say mankind can take same sex couples getting married before the state (Because let's be serious, unless you live in a teocracy, religious marriages are just a piece of paper and an oral statement that matters shit, as far as the government is concerned)
Holy fucking shit this is incredible
The world has alot of catching up to.
Our gov't is made up of moronic ragheads who think homosexuality causes earthquakes, floods, etc. You won't see us coming to the 21st century until Islam is completely purged from our government. Zoroastrianism needs to be brought back. I still wonder how a 16th century B.C. religion can be more tolerant and progressive than a 7th century A.D. one. Actually, you know what, just completely purge Islam from the earth. Its a backward thought process and the earth would objectively be better off without it.

We'd probably just see wars against "chaos".
"adam and eve not adam and steve"
Funny, the Bible said "Adam and Eve", so I did both! :3
I feel like this could fuel the extreme Islamists into hating the West more now. But then again it's just another excuse for them [editline]27th June 2015[/editline] The middle east and Africa won't be easy on the gays, I'm afraid I won't live to see the day it happens. Russia I can't tell, but not soon anyway
I honestly wasn't expecting this to get changed during my lifetime. Way to go, USA. And a huge congratulation to all american FP-users out there!
Nah we're all for gay marriage (well, some of us). Two of the chicks I know in my reenacting group are lesbians.
With this flag the south really will rise again. ;) [editline]27th June 2015[/editline] I'm sorry, that was terrible
I'm happy this has happened, this needed to happen for a really long time!
I've actually had not one Facebook friend make a salty post about the legalization. Not one. I guess I pick 'em well. o:
Washington was one of the earliest states to legalize. What no one tells you though is that it's King County (Seattle) that carried the vote. Nearly every other county voted sharply against it, especially on the eastern side. Guess which side all my friends and family are from? :D
I feel like this region will be troublesome. Though I'm unsure of the stance in India and China.
Gay status in China is a bit weird. It's not disaproved by the government and it's not approved either. So there's no gay marriage there. Nowadays places like Beijing will grant you a residency status no matter the gender of your partner, it's more aimed to people that have married each other outside of China and expats. There have been a lot of symbolic gay marriages that have got a lot of news coverage in China and have always been painted in positive light. Gay marriage bills have been proposed but has never gained any traction.
glad that all you boykissing manlovers can finally get married <3 no homo or anything tho
i can finally fuck the man of my dreams
It's about time this happened now to wait for all the idiots to shut up.
Good thing this will never happen in Eastern Europe
Good thing this will never happen in Eastern Europe
Could you explain to me, without bringing in religion, why this is a bad thing?
All those companies that help organize weddings and such will become sick nasty rich if they decide to play the progressive card and tag along.
