How does it feel to belong to the 21st century
I will never understand why so many people are so fucking worried about what other people do to be happy. My day just got a lot better hearing about this, its about time.
It has always angered me and makes me cringe whenever someone talks against gays getting married. It's as if being happy should be against the law.
I'm gonna guess Scalia mentioned his Catholic background.... YEP. LOOK AT ME. I'M JUSTICE SCALIA. I BREAK.A CORE TENANT OF THE CONSTITUTION WHILST SAYING I A. STRICT CONSTRUCTION. OH HEY! LEMME FUCKING BULLY OTHER JUSTICES AND SCREAM AT THEM.
He called this ruling "a threat to democracy," lmfao

Scalia also whined that there weren't enough midwestern catholics on the supreme court. Tears are delicious.
Religious soccer mom's are whining on my Facebook, it's great.
Not sure if it's been posted, but here's the dissenting opinion:
But this Court is not a legislature. Whether same-sex marriage is a good idea should be of no concern to us. Under the Constitution, judges have power to say what the law is, not what it should be. The people who ratified the Constitution authorized courts to exercise “neither force nor will but merely judgment.” The Federalist No. 78, p. 465 (C. Rossiter ed. 1961) (A. Hamilton) (capitalization altered). —Chief Justice John Roberts, Obergefell v. Hodges dissenting opinion

Republican 2016 candidates have responded, Mike Huckabee seems the maddest: While Jeb Bush is among the most restrained:
this is about the time somebody would ask Huckabee 'r u ok' after seeing what he posted. Can you be any more mad, holy shit.
Same sex marriage is a giant leap for gay rights, but we still have a long journey ahead of us. (gays donating blood, gay couples adopting, etc.)
Dunno if this has been here for a while or not, or if it's already been posted, but Google are celebrating:

wow, i did not see that coming. this is amazing. congratulations guys. i'm really happy for you americans!
I didn't even know the SC were about to make a decision on this, let alone rule in favour of gay marriage. A rather pleasant surprise.
The White House twitter account has turned rainbow-coloured and is celebrating the ruling:
RED IS THE COLOR OF OBONGON COMMUNISM.
Oh god, I saw this and accidentally laughed really loudly at the office and now my coworkers are giving me weird looks https://twitter.com/NOMupdate/status/604029428872650752 As much as I try to see both sides of things, it's so hard to not just laugh in these people's faces
Dunno if this has been here for a while or not, or if it's already been posted, but Google are celebrating:
Nah that's for LGBT Pride Month, they do that every year Helluva LGBT Pride Month this year, though
I dunno, in my personal opinion you have to be either a special kind of stupid or a special kind of hateful to be against gay marriage.
I honestly don't see any Republican candidate winning the Presidential election unless one of them steps out in support of this ruling. Cuz most of the US population is in support of it.
Don't fall into the trap of thinking people vote on just one issue, a lot of Republicans in 2012 claimed Obama couldn't possibly win because most Americans were opposed to Obamacare for example. People base their voting decisions on a lot of factors, some of them logical and many of them not.
This is awesome, I honestly hadn't thought of it to be legal for all in one shot, but was thinking like each state will progressively change, and was expecting this to only be fully legal throughout in the 2020s or later. Now, this is good news for many countries, the LGBT community can push more to get it legalized in their own country. I hope my country does the same!

After 1964 any presidential candidate that came out and said "I do not agree with giving black people rights" didn't stand a chance.
My Facebook exploded in Pride and rainbows
If republicans were smart they'd flip over to saying this is a win for personal liberty and not having the government saying what you can or cannot do. But they won't.
This is a big surprise, Australia next please!
If republicans were smart they'd flip over to saying this is a win for personal liberty and not having the government saying what you can or cannot do. But they won't.
to be fair if they even made such a flip wouldn't it basically alienate a bunch of their more conservative voters? Weighing in their options rather than backpedal and lose votes they would prefer to toe the line for the majority of their support base.
If republicans were smart they'd flip over to saying this is a win for personal liberty and not having the government saying what you can or cannot do. But they won't.
I'm assuming that the voters that keep electing them into office are ignorant christians, so they have to keep appealing to them.
I'm not gay nor I live in the US but this is fucking amazing.
Holy shit watch out America, any second now the floods are coming
One of the nation’s most prominent evangelical leaders issued a dire warning for the nation in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling on homosexual marriage. “I believe God could bring judgment upon America,” said Franklin Graham in an exclusive interview. Graham told me that Christians should be prepared for persecution in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling on homosexual marriage. “You better be ready and you better be prepared because it’s coming,” Graham said just moments after the court handed down its ruling. “There will be persecution of Christians for our stand.”
http://nation.foxnews.com/2015/06/26/exclusive-franklin-graham-warns-gay-marriage-ruling-will-lead-christian-persecution
