No, you won't, because you'll probably be knee-deep in debt. Not to mention "all the normal muscle" is a very broad term, that's quite a lot of your body you'll be replacing. And if you consider the brain a muscle like some people, well, let me put it this way: You're dead if you do this. Literally.
Who would collect the debt? I'll be indestructible. I will go to the bank, rip open the vault, get all the money. And when someone tries to stop me I'll just throw people at them. I'll just pick up regular people on the street and chuck them at the po po. I'll be unstoppable. AND THEN I'LL GO INTO PEOPLE'S HOUSES AT NIGHT AND WRECK UP THE PLACE! DON'T YOU SEE YOU FOOLS!? YOU HAVE FINALLY PROVIDED FOR ME THE MATERIALS I NEED FOR MY WORLD CONQUEST! NOTHING CAN STOP ME!
Does this mean like we'll get into fights with muggers where we're throwing eachother like 50 feet through the air with a single punch?
If that's what we want?
calm down there nixon
HARUUUH!
then an entire organization of highly sophisticated arm-ripping debt collectors are after you, and then you became a real-life video game.
And then you rip their arms off in their sleep before they get you.
Pepper;43286158']And then you rip their arms off in their sleep before they get you.
W'okay.
I'm sorry but this entire thread disappoints me beyond belief. I expected more from FP. Seriously guys, possibly a huge breakthrough and a way to enhance our bodies beyond imagining and all you can come up with is masturbation and shitting? Fuck that, cover your entire bladder with this stuff and you'll be pissing through walls. Just drink a few bottles of water before you go anywhere and you'll be packing a deadly weapon all the time. Someone tries to mug you? Just aim and squeeze and watch as you drill a hole where they had a heart a second ago. Screw putting your initials in snow, now you can fucking carve your name into the mountains! Now you can easily say both to the question "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" (I will accept no responsibility for the damage caused to buildings after you had a few too many pints though)

Think about all the millions of years of progress we made only to mass produce trivial things. I would get excited but this is so far away.

Shame on you, these are truly magical times.
I remember hearing about the backstory on the development of the Spartan program in Halo apparently their first spartans were normal humans with the enhancements, and they were so bad at handling their newfound strength they were literally just killing themselves by accident all the time. I recall one guy accidentally broke an arm or a leg or something from moving/stretching too fast, then recoiled in pain and continued injuring himself in the convulsions, essentially crushing himself into a pulpy ball. Another guy bashed his skull in when he tried to salute
That was actually because of the MJOLNIR armor due to the force multiplying circuits and not because of the enhancements. Spartan deaths were outside of combat were largely caused during the augmentation procedure for the Gen II Spartans where their bodies would outright reject or cause other serious conditions. It's their bone and muscle augmentations that allow them to wear the armor in the first place.

-snip- fucking phone Internet
I could eat ice cream like it was my job.
Yes.. exactly what I was thinking of licking.
ah, thanks so this DOES mean we should focus on bio integration before throwing together a powersuit then, eh?
Why make a suit that requires dangerous surgical procedures? Makes much more sense to produce suits that anyone could wear, rather than risk being fucked up and deformed.
Why make a suit that requires dangerous surgical procedures? Makes much more sense to produce suits that anyone could wear, rather than risk being fucked up and deformed.
This reminds me of the Crysis nanosuit. I actually wouldn't mind wearing it.
ah, thanks so this DOES mean we should focus on bio integration before throwing together a powersuit then, eh?
Definitely. It's a fallacy to assume we would have a native ability to integrate with such technology on a level meaningful enough to control equipment with a scale of force that ranges from grabbing somebody by the hand to flipping a tank. It would take years of training to use after multiple generations of new designs in both fields before anything truly usable began to take form. As much as it would be cool, I'm not sure I want the technology that enables soldiers to literally tear their enemies to shreds with their bare hands and fire weapons with computer assisted mechanical precision while inside a nearly indestructible (to small arms) suit. It sounds bad for the people on the losing side down the line, like the nuclear arms race did for humanity.
This reminds me of the Crysis nanosuit. I actually wouldn't mind wearing it.
the nanosuit devours your internal organs and uses the biomass for repairs
the nanosuit devours your internal organs and uses the biomass for repairs
yeah but it also inexplicably gives you the personality of a really charismatic bald black leader guy because of nanomachine jizz memories or something so ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh i'd say it balances out

Because that's what it is, in reality.
Neurons are not fat, neither are Glial cells, the brain is incredibly different from the rest of the body
yeah but it also inexplicably gives you the personality of a really charismatic bald black leader guy because of nanomachine jizz memories or something so ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh i'd say it balances out
if you think of the nanosuit as the world's most clingy girlfriend crysis 2 makes much more sense
I, for one, bow down to my future, sexy cylon overlords <---
I, for one, bow down to my future, sexy cylon overlords <---
Zoe Greystone... Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
the nanosuit devours your internal organs and uses the biomass for repairs
That's only if the users' body has died, right? Because chowing down on a alive user seems like a really bad idea for the suit.
The brain is in no way a muscle. It is a ball of fat and other types of tissue with a complex vascular system that is rolling around in an extremely hard case.

Zoe Greystone... Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
i wish caprica was picked up by a better channel. syfy raped it. It was really picking up near the end too...
So when can we augment our vision?
On a different topic - I like how in DX:HR, the robotic arms' shoulders are all artificial muscle, except for the old crappy ones you occasionally see.
Yeah I was wondering about the bones.
plus ligaments and tendons.
On the topic of the difficulties of it being heated and cooled to move, perhaps there is a way to work around it. Perhaps the material could be made in a honeycomb, and every individual "cell" is heated or cooled through a blood-vessel like system. As for interference, it can simply be insulated and/or adjusted for by the heating/cooling system. Just a theory, but honestly it seems like a small problem to overcome in the grand scheme of this.
