You've got absolutely no room to criticize my beliefs, posting shit like that.
This, 100 percent this. I'm not saying I agree with his beliefs, but... If what he's saying really is wrong, then use standard logic, reasoning, and good arguments to show him that. Calling someone a neo-nazi or just spouting random insults or criticizing his sense of morality (especially when our moral standards develop just as our bodies do and are highly subjective) isn't helping anything at all.
And as a symptom of autism, autistic people can't socialize very well. People do think in very similar ways if they're of sound mind and body, human body and brain structure is uniform across the board except for in the case of mutations/disorders/afflictions/physical injury. Of course everyone is different, but that's based on nurture, not nature. We see this in other situations, particularly the average IQ of impoverished people, it is not a result of being genetically inferior, but rather having poor upbringings. [editline]19th August 2013[/editline] No, I didn't. I'm just explaining my opinion. I'm not belittling anyone, just sharing what I see as the reality.
What you see as reality =/= reality. Human brains are never uniform even IF we disregard genetics. Malnutrition during the first year of an infant almost always causes some sort of developmental delay. You acknowledge tha,t but don't realize that the number of children who have had a bout of malnutrition in the first year is extremely high. Water quality can even effect the the middle to upper classin a first world country and in a lot of third world countries clean water is a luxury. Unclean water can be contaminated with anything from straight up lead to pretty much any substance that is used in : manufacturing, agriculture, and even more likely (especially in third world countries) mining and base industries. A lot of these chemicals can seriously effect brain development since the brain is so complex and relies on so many things so it can develop "properly" Disease is an obvious example and most of the world goes without modern medicine. Disease can do anything from rotting a person's (in the case of brain development, a child's) brain, to causing malnutrition because the affected person cannot properly digest food for any number of reasons. These are only some of the factors that cause developmental issues relating to the brain. The only way you could make a baseline for human brain development is to exclude vast swathes of Earths population, which would completely miss the point of making a baseline. TL;DR human brains are completely different and even a basic understanding of anthropology, child development, and history would show this. We cannot average out brain development without ignoring entire populations of people.
The whole point of what I was saying was to add a scientific emotionless side to a debate which is generally centered entirely around emotions and morality. Not once did I personally attack his character or say he deserved to be killed. You all call me a sociopath yet you're sitting there yourselves going "this guy is a faggot, he should be shot."
But, that's exactly it: Adding an emotionless 'scientific' side to things is pretty much useless: euthanizing the teen will have what you said: provided benefits of not having to go through the shit of caring for him. The family loves him to bits. There's no denying that since they've decided to care for that child for 13 straight years and were deeply offended by this letter. (I may be pulling this out of my ass, but this is the mindset we have now), what good would euthanizing him do if it would only put more emotional stress on the family? Maybe even put some of them into a depression? That's just the tip of the iceberg, I'm a bit tired to write out a more detailed argument, but you should be able to gather the core points of my argument. A scientific standpoint is honestly useless if there's no emotional standpoint along to go with it. The emotional and scientific standpoints contradict eachother; with the morals people have today, the scientific standpoint you have presented is rendered useless. If you really think that having this child die would put a 'relief' on a whole family that is an absolutely disgusting thought, honestly. I'd like to see what would happen if you went up to the family with the victimized autistic child and tell them: "Think about it, if you euthanize your child, you'll have a huge relief lifted off your backs!" Do you realize how disgusting you would sound? How trying to turn the death of their child that they've cared for and loved for 13 years into a positive thing?
Eugenics/Euthanasia is never an easy topic for discussion, even if it's hypothetical.
This left a bad taste in my mouth. Especially since she mentioned the fact that he'll never have a normal life. There's a Special Unit for developmentally disabled kids in my school. My home room is near it and i often see the kids there pass by to or from lunch. And then i think, 'these kids will never have a normal life, and what about after school?' It really gets me down in all honestly. And i honestly tear up if i dwell on it. I hate thinking about it. I hate that these kids won't ever have a normal life. I hate it so much. I wish they would have had a chance. but i know they're being cared for, and that at least makes me feel a bit better. I know their parents will care and love them for their flaws. At least they have that much. Maybe when i get a part time job, i can volunteer to collect donations for charities and such. Do some good.
willing to bet the "concerned mother" was just another successful troll
Threads like these are intresting because there's always posts showing the ugly truth in some posters that you normally don't see.
I find it hilarious really that probably most of you don't have a clue about raising a mental condition like this and sound proofing your home doesn't really work to be honest that is what a redneck would do just my opinion really first post on this thing a friend thought it would be funny to get me on here (User was banned for this post ("stop posting in all bold, and use punctuation" - Orkel))

You have literally no punctuation.
And here comes the part where i actually give a shit..........................................Nope not gonna happen. So there is your punctuation for you literal grammar nazi's.
For your first posts, you really aren't off to a good start
And here comes the part where i actually give a shit..........................................Nope not gonna happen. So there is your punctuation for you literal grammar nazi's.
As opposed to... a figurative grammar nazi?
To be honest with all of you.I really don't think we need to spell and punctuate every little thing. It just seems unnecessary. Some may disagree and some may agree.I posted on the post for the fact I thought it was open to talk about the topic not someone elses grammar. So back on the topic of discussion of euthanizing a autistic person. In my opinion not so much of you have expertise on this condition of the brain that makes these people socially awkward and different. You look at in the light of either you know someone with autism or you don't for the ones who don't know or have autistic people you really think its a both sides of the fence discussion. Some of you take moral high road. Some say thing's that may hurt someone's feelings(not mine). The ones who do know or have autistic people around you.You guys know the struggles and hardship for these people and of course the people are going to say things that will make you want to strangle them. For me I walk away from this computer before attacking others.
:words:
You started off your post by saying that correct grammar is unnecessary, and then you used the rest of your post to prove yourself wrong What point are you trying to make? You're saying that people who don't know anyone who is autistic might say something offensively stupid or wrong, but whether or not you agree with the lady in the news article, she obviously does know someone who has autism
you dont have to punctuate your post to make it readable i do so without it by making a new line when i feel like an idea is going on too long
i agree with you i was just really getting my opinion out there you know?
i agree with you i was just really getting my opinion out there you know?
Your opinion was apparently "Some people know autistic people and other people don't, and people who have never met an autistic person might not realise how different they are and as a result wouldn't truly understand the struggles they face and piss off those who do" Which is irrelevant because like i said, the woman obviously DOES know someone who is autistic and still has a problem [editline]21st August 2013[/editline]
No she doesn't she has a neighbor but doesn't know well enough to be making statements like that to her or her child and with the grammar stuff man ive dropped about like a sentence ago no offensive just drop it already.
How do you know how much she knows the neighbor? She obviously has to have lived next to the child a while to be at the point of telling the parent to get them euthanized, and is concerned with protecting their identity/reputation
