You're talking like it happened on a daily basis.
While Bloody Sunday was not our finest hour, that is one incident. You're talking like it happened on a daily basis.
well yeah but stuff similar happened frequently (on a smaller scale of course)
"What the hell Ireland? Sure we invaded you and treated you like second class citizens for 800 years, but I thought we were cool? Now you want all your land back?"
You do know that the reason Ireland's remained split is because the North wants to remain part of the UK right? With all the time that's passed, and all the arse-licking we gave the IRA with the previous Bloody Sunday Inquiry during the Peace Talks I'd have thought most Republicans would have given up on or forgotten about the idea about now.
they're coming in through Heysham again with bombs and shit
The fuck have we done?
let's see: took their land caused the Great Famine made laws against them people don't forget this shit, especially not if they are the IRA
Nothing's going to happen, just like with all the other 20 bajillion terror threats each year. Go about your business.
Just so you all know, something like this looks extremely odd to us Americans. White people killing white people? SAY WUUUUUUT
The dissidents are retarded. There was a referendum on Northern Irish independence in which it saw support from a staggering 1% of the population, and the vast majority of Northern Irish citizens today (69% according to a 2009 poll) support Northern Ireland remaining in the United Kingdom. Nationalism as a whole is the minority, and those who support terrorism as a means of effecting such an ultimately trivial change are a tiny fraction of the population (The Real IRA and Continuity IRA total about 300 members). With that in mind, it's not as if the UK government will go against the desires of both themselves and the vast majority of the population because 300 guys from Ireland are assholes.
Christine O'Donnell :tinfoil: Irish terrorists are going to blow up the US.
I fucking warned you guys.
The fuck have we done? Ok, we might not have a nice shiny history, but last time I checked it was Irish dissident groups bombing the UK - not UK dissident groups bombing Ireland. As a number of people (who I am asuming are Irish) here have said, the majority of the Irish don't really care - in which case, I really can't fathom what Ireland's problem is. But aside from all that, I don't get 'sploded.
Invaded our country, segregated our people, used us as cheap labour and attacked us whenever we didn't like it. Also there ARE British groups who attack Ireland, not many, but they exist.
they're coming in through Heysham again with bombs and shit
Wait what. I live in Heysham, about a mile or two from the harbour.
this is no different from every other national state conflict in human history
Hey look, yet another empty threat.
Hey look, yet another empty threat.
Didn't a car bomb get found outside a police station a while ago in the mainland? And wasn't there a bomb scare recently in two irish schools? Yeah those threats were totally empty right?
I thought they'd learned like, almost two decades ago that they're never getting a fully-united Ireland, why won't those Republican morons just get that into their thick skulls?
You're a fucking idiot. "I thought they'd learned like, in the 1700's that they're never getting their freedom, why won't those black people just get that into their thick skulls? Look at that I changed 3 phrases and all of a sudden you're a white supremacist from 1850.
Why does this make me picture a load of drunks in a green boat throwing empty drinks bottles at the cliffs of dover.
Why does this make me picture a load of drunks in a green boat throwing empty drinks bottles at the cliffs of dover.
There's so much wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin.
Why does this make me picture a load of drunks in a green boat throwing empty drinks bottles at the cliffs of dover.
pff that's how me and your mother met
Invaded our country, segregated our people, used us as cheap labour and attacked us whenever we didn't like it. Also there ARE British groups who attack Ireland, not many, but they exist.
I'm loving how you, as well as many others, are continuing to take what I said in completely the wrong context. I was responding to PvtCupcakes' comments on the present situation, not what has happened in the past.
I thought they'd learned like, almost two decades ago that they're never getting a fully-united Ireland, why won't those Republican morons just get that into their thick skulls?
So they should abandon their efforts because Facepunch user Zpiscool says it won't happen? [editline]12:33PM[/editline]
Also, most ordinary people don't give a shit. So don't call the whole Republic morons.
Exactly! [editline]12:34PM[/editline]
The IRA and Provisional IRA disarmed, they still technically exist. The Real IRA (who aren't the real IRA) are still armed. [editline]06:00PM[/editline] So many IRAs.
my good friend told me once he had some dealings with some IRA folk in Belfast.
