My great-grandmother had a chihuahua that didn't have the stupid apple head. She was pretty dang cute, but fucking vicious to anyone that wasn't her or one of the other random family members of hers. Her fur was smooth like those decorative stones in the craft stores.

I had a chihuahua that died(:() but was the nicest thing in the world. She wouldn't dare bite anyway but would growl at people she didn't recognize. You could pet her and she'd be happy again. She lived to about 18 years. *cry

I'd say it looks "presentable", but definitely not ugly.

There's also the possibility of organ misplacement/rollovers that could be fatal.

The contest seems more like a celebration of alternative beauty or unusual looking dogs, rather than just "ugliness". You could show up with a recently-cured stray missing half it's hair and easily take home $1500 if you're just going by how unpleasant a dog is to look at.
