Israeli bulldozers destroy 6 Palestinian Homes in east Jerusalem
"Barkat's proposal would allow residents of the other 66 Silwan homes - the ones not slated for demolition - to retroactively apply for construction permits, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post."
From the original article a couple weeks back about Israel's plan to demolish the houses.

You do realize, this has nothing to do with this incident. It's a separate one. You said they were approved, they weren't. They are given a chance to apply again, and by looking at the application rates, they will be denied. So basically, it was just some dumb PR attempt.

Well if you count the Hezbollah which did so a few years back and the Hamas which are still doing it for 10 years, then yeah, two countries.
He was speaking in present tense.
You haven't told us the professor and or the book.
And obviously you don't, the people fighting are people who are sick of the political deadlock.
Here you go, it's the exact article I read about it too, about one year ago.

Any source that the 66 houses were not approved eventually?

We aren't sure yet, it's possibly still pending. All we rely on is history, and history tells us they will be denied.

From what I've read on an Israeli news website (walla, which is leftist), the city administration or however it's called in English has first wanted to demolish all 88 houses but then worked out a plan where only 22 will have to be demolished, so I doubt they'll just go "eh, whatever, let's just destroy all of them".

That has not brought up one thing i didn't already know.
And the article is just "HURR POOR OVER TAKING THE RICH HURR"
It's also him bending history to fit his view point... Slavery was added into the constitution to keep the southern states in the union it was also added that in 50 years (i think 50) they would vote to extend slave trade. (Which they were assuming would lead to just getting rid of slavery all together)
And he doesn't offer one god damn alternative to war.

You need to start sourcing your shit.
In fact, everyone does.

I doubt you read the whole thing in this short amount of time.
He tells how the rich got into a war that the poor, the majority, didn't need to enter at all, and how it was unnecessary since peaceful solutions were probably aplenty, like how India and Canada got their independence peacefully and without a violent war such as America's revolution.

I could look it up but it'll be in Hebrew, if you don't mind using Google translator then sure.

History tells us otherwise. Maybe, they didn't demolish those homes, we don't know. But there's one thing for sure, this has nothing to do with the article.

Listen, you asked for a source regarding the 88 houses to prove my claim that 66 of which are to be granted permits, and I did. You can assume all you want that they won't be, but you can't just act like it'll happen 100%. If it will happen then you were right and I was wrong, but until then, they are considered to be granted permits.

I'm a fast reader.
India and Canada didn't get theirs till around WW2.
And there where no peaceful solutions at the time.
And it wasn't just the "rich" getting the poor into the war.
Events in this order. (not to mention other influences like Thomas Paine etc)

All of them unfairly put onto the colonies (no taxes with out representation) which lead to the Boston Massacre/Tea Party followed shortly by the Revolutionary War.
Again, bitches don't know their history.

Here you go - http://news.walla.co.il/?w=//1693929
And http://translate.google.com/# of course.
I would be shocked if Palestine was still a country in 6-10 years.

To everyone. I hope they get their country soon, but it's not yet a country, and it never was.

Whoops sorry I accidentally bulldozed your house.
As for compensation you can live behind the mall that we are building over where your house was.

Hm mmm.
Yes, two countries are launching missiles at Israel, and Ahmenijad who is getting nuclear fuel and never broke on IAEA protocol.

It's not like there are two countries around it lunching missiles into it
or a country that is trying to get a nuclear power in order to make Israel disappear
right?
you're wrong on both counts
you are dumb.
BurnEmDown's got a point. Yes, the laws are stupid, but it seems evident that building houses again and again isn't going to work. There have to be other ways to change the situation, be they be by changing the laws, or whatever.
you're wrong on both counts

I love how Israel threads always have "you're dumb" or "you're retarded" in responses.

So your alternative is to remain homeless but try changing the laws. No, I think you forgot that these are homes.
BurnEmDown, all you have to do is say "I disagree with Israel's actions here, even though the houses were built illegally. To solve this problem in the future, Israel should begin by issuing more housing permits and giving people without permits a way to do so before their house is demolished".
It seems to fit with what you're trying to say here but you won't come across as insensitive.

But he is highly insensitive.
But he is highly insensitive.
Yeah, but I assumed he'd want to hide it whenever possible.
No I didn't, but since you can't read, I guess.
It is relevant, it's the same 88 houses we're talking about.
It is relevant, it's the same 88 houses we're talking about.
It's a different neighborhood.
And what I'm trying to say is that they should build their houses with permits wherever possible if they want a house so bad, and then complain how they couldn't get permits in east Jerusalem. Note that one of the lines in Hebrew that I quoted from the article says that the houses are poorly built, with no proper sewage, electricity, and water access. These kinds of houses must be demolished anyway if they're too poorly built or if they can be repaired then they have to be repaired before people can live in them. I don't know about you guys but every month I hear on the news that some old house from the 40's is considered "too poorly built" without enough access to sewage, water and electricity, and they may collapse soon or something, so it has to be either demolished or if they found out about it in time, repaired.
[editline]10:41AM[/editline]
It's a different neighborhood.
Oh, rate me bad reading. I guess the poorly built part might not be true either (for this neighborhood, not to the one I was referring to).
